please phone your MW, they are the ones to advise.
Yes I think you may well be in labour, for many it's mostly back pain to start.

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 18:34

it doesnt feel like labour & i dnt wanna sound silly and go to hospital just to be sent home,my waters havent broke neither have i had a show, could it be soomething else??

Sorry, but in the nicest way
!
Ask the MW, they will not mind you phoning.
Yes it could be something else, something else that the MW needs to know about TOO.
The pressure in your groin is what's alerting me, tbh, that is very important.
PHONE.

cazboldy · 26/11/2011 18:38

both my girls were back to back and i felt most of my pain in my back. i think if it's that if you go on your hands and knees the pain wil ease Smile

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 26/11/2011 18:42

Is your baby back to back? Where is the placenta?

Of course you are in labour, although not necessarily estaished. Coukd well still be weeks.

chocoroo · 26/11/2011 18:43

My DD was back to back and I expected throughout labour for the pain to spread. It never did. Good luck!

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 18:45

im not sure if shes back to back..placenta is where it should be,the pain does ease wen i lay down or go on my hands and knees:) also is it true diarrhea is a sign as ive had that for 2 day???

All my labours have been in my back, your waters can be the last thing to go in my case with two of mine just before they popped out!

Agree with ragged, midwives will never mind checking, and they wont think you are silly, I'm presuming this is your first but to be honest It was always a surprise to realise that I was in labour with all three of mine as you forget the early signs! Midwives are used to 'false alarms' its the nature of their job.

Phone and put your mind at ease, OR get ready to have a baby!!! Grin

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 18:48

beleve it or not its my 4th,never gone into labour on my own always had 2 b induced at 42 weeks and i never experienced back pain?!

Oh yeah having a clear out is your bodies way of preparing for labour, your ticking them boxes!!!

I forgot to say that I also never had a show until well established in labour.

(gets excited for potential labour thread!) Grin

MerryMarigold · 26/11/2011 18:51

ragged implied it could be something else, but didn't want to alarm you. I would definitely get things checked out asap.

GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 26/11/2011 18:51

Is the placenta at the front or the back I meant?

morethemerrier · 26/11/2011 18:52

Me too! Exp DC4 in April, but like I said its natures way I think that makes us forget the signs and like most people say, every pregnancy/labours are different!

Good luck x

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 19:05

thanks guys,i shall ring up & see what they say :)

I have an excellent track record of being in complete denial about it each time I went into labour.
Oh no, can't really be it, these twinges will probably go on for days, I just feel a bit achey, ate the wrong thing, am too tired, a little dehydrated, I'll just have a wee glass of wine & see it goes away, or go out to the shops for a few hours.

So really, I am a fan of denial, but only up to a point. If you're commenting about pressure below OP that suggests it's different from normal, friend nearly had baby in the kitchen/car because she didn't think pressure down below meant much of anything.

HAVE you phoned?
You realise all of us will get very excited if you keep giving updates. Wink

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 19:51

maybe thats my problem as ov course all labours r different...& i dont fancy givin birth on my own.iv gota ring bak in half hour :s

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 26/11/2011 19:59

Oops didn't see your post!

morethemerrier · 26/11/2011 20:33

My mum said when she was having me she told the midwife that she needed to go to the toilet as she needed a BIG poo, but the midwife said, 'its not a poo its your baby!'

Thank goodness otherwise I would have been born in a toilet bowl!!! Grin

And I was her 2nd!!!

saucykellie1989 · 26/11/2011 20:44

midwife says all seems normal :S got my cmw comin monday mornin..

I've been thinking "this could be it" since about 37 weeks - the pressure below was the baby beginning to engage and just the position it is in for me. I often get an hour or so where it feels like its so low its going to fall out but it doesn't come to anything and mw isn't worried in my case.

I keep getting backache and diarrhoea too... but at this rate I'm going to go to 42 weeks anyway (I'm 40 now!).

It's so frustrating isn't it - there's all these things that "might" be indicators of labour but they equally might go on for weeks. (Similar I think with the show/mucus plug - sometimes just before labour sometimes weeks before!)
