2nd baby, 2nd trimester & no pelvic floor control

So I'm 21 weeks with DC2 and I'm really struggling with my lack of pelvic floor muscle tone! I've never found it easy to do the exercises, but didn't have this problem in pg1 or after DS arrived, but now...! I'm considering just stocking up on Tena Lady and being done with it. Pretty much every time I sneeze I piss myself and have lost track of the times I've had to change my trousers or tie a cardi round my waist to hide my 'accident'.
Could this be because of the baby's / placenta's position? Or have I just gone slack and that's that?!
Is there anything, apart from the exercises, I can do to improve things - diet? Supplements? (I considered one of those electronic stimulator thingys but they're not for use in pg)
And finally, can anyone reassure me it'll get better after the baby arrives, or am I destined to be a pissy mess forever now?!
Thanks ladies! Smile

1st baby, 2nd trimester - and would be really interested to hear any comments on this! My pelvic floor muscles tend to be tested only when I read comments on threads about exercises and remember I should be doing them.

...and then they last less than a minute.

I am pants.

Talk to your midwife - you may be able to see a physio? I'm a fellow pissy-pants and it started in 2nd trimester for me too - I'm 28 weeks with DC3. I had in third trimester with DC2, and it was fine after she was born. It's called stress incontinence - and that says it all, you suffer because there's stress on your bladder.

Mine isn't so bad that I need more than panty-liners. But I've found wearing panty-liners a life saver to stop the smell for one thing and also my damp knickers were chafing on my upper thighs. In fact, one day, my dd had her head in my lap in the dentists waiting room and said very loudly 'I can smell your front bottom' Blush

I suggest Tena lady as a short-term solution. After your baby's born you can buy pelvic floor exercise kits.

Phlossie your DDs comment has just caused me to soil yet another pair! Good to hear that it can be helped, and that it should get better afterwards! Thanks for the reassurance!
Spanner glad I'm not alone! I just can't do them - I do about 3 and then lose the feel of where I'm meant to be squeezing!
