Im currently 34 weeks with my second dc. First pregnancy and birth was 'text book'. This time round its very different.

At the last few check-ups bump has been measuring bigger than it should be. Measurements this morning have bump at 38cm.
At a visit to triage over a week ago the MW couldnt decide if baby was head down or bum down. She decided that as the doppler was picking up the HB low down that it must be head down. She didnt check anywhere else for a HB.
Todays MW found the heartbeat at the top and bottom but said it was louder from the top of the bump, concluding that baby is sitting on my pelvis.
Iv been booked in for a scan this Friday to check on babies size and obviously we will see how baby is sitting.

Iv had a few friends and relations that have had breach babies and have been doing the usual crawling, ball bouncing activities, but none of them have had PGP. My PGP has got quite bad, im strapped up with a bump belt on top of a tubagrip and im on crutches. It takes my full days worth of energy to walk to the next street to pick up Dd from nursery. Im not worth a button come lunch time.

So im wondering if any of you have been in a similar situation and/or have suggestions on how to turn baby on its head when im not able to do most physical experiments. I have been on the birthing ball for quite a while and its obviously not helped any.

Thanks

Hello - I'm not sure what to say about your measurements. Did you have a dating scan? Could you be further along than you think? My DS DC1 measured big on scans at 34, 36 and 38 weeks, and I was told he'd be a 10/11 pounder - he was 8lb 4oz at 40+15.

My DD (DC2) was breech until 36 weeks. I did the things you said, plus I had 'acupuncture' - it didn't involve needles, I had to burn something that looked like a very large spliff over my little toes! I did that and had a hot bath, and my dd turned and I had a normal delivery at 40+11. I also recommend going swimming - don't swim breaststroke if you have PGP, though. Who knows if any of those things helped, but she did turn.

You have more chance of your baby turning when it's not your first. I'd have thought that you'd be offered scans to check baby's size and lie. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply phlossie my edd is Jan 1st and at both my 12wks and 20wk scans everything was on schedule. We have a family history of big babies and dc1 was 8lbs 10oz at 41+1 so iv never been concerned about the size until now.
Iv to have another scan this Friday to check on the size.

Did your mw tell you about the acupuncture? I have been swimming but not as often as I should. Must make a point of going more.
Thanks

No, a friend told me about it. I was induced with DC1, so I was desperate not to have to have a CS! It was worth a try!

I know what you mean about swimming - we get free swims when pregnant in Bristol and I've still only been twice! It's brilliant for SPD problems too.

Hi, I think its called moxibustion. I tried it with breech baby but to no effect sadly. Don't know if you would be offered an ECV with PGP- I guess if your baby is breech you will see a consultant and go from there.

Fingers crossed your baby decides to move on its own and the PGP improves, must be knackering.

Thank you katekate I'l look into moxibustion. Your right, it is knackering. Their right when they say that no two pregnancies are the same!
