any such thing as too much movement?

I'm 29 weeks and have a sickness bug of some kind. The baby is extremely active - moving so much it's making me feel sick. I'm guessing the movement is a good thing...? Anyone know?

Bump in case anyone knows if I should be worried.

Any abnormal movements should be checked out with a midwife.

There's a lot of talk about contacting your MW if you have reduced movements, but any change in movement, increase or decrease, is worth getting checked out.

There is at least one post on the Count the Kicks thread where the poster had increased movement and that was a sign of something being wrong - it's probably nothing and baby is having an active day, but you're better off ringing the MW to check if it's markedly different to normal.

Thanks Flisspaps.

I've called the MWs and left a message. Reckon I'm just feeling the movements because they're making me feel so rotten coz I'm ill but hopefully they'll call me back and reassure me.

Just in case anyone cares, MW says they can't really move too much!

i was wondering this too as my girl moves alot! i dont really have anything to compare it to as this is my first but all the midwives and sonographers have commented on how active she is. i asked as you did whether it was too much movement but was told the same as you!!

I had this too at the end of my pg with ds2 - I used to joke he was frantically looking for the way out and couldn't find it. Was reassured many times that there is no such thing as too much movement.

A distressed baby can move erratically so it is always worth getting checked out. Normal babies however do have more active days than others. Glad things are ok op.

I am really really pleased that all is well.

However, your MW may well be mistaken to say 'babies can't move too much':

This is the thread I referred to earlier on - just to clarify that any abnormal movement, including an increase, IS a reason to contact your midwife (I say this in case someone comes across this thread in the future with increased movements, thinks it's all fine but really should get checked out)

The Count The Kicks campaign website also says If you feel your baby is moving less or more than normal, call your midwife or Antenatal ward immediately. Don?t wait for your next appointment

:)

It could add: If you call your midwife and tell her it's moving more than normal, they're likely just to tell you not to worry. I didn't actually see anyone yesterday...

How anyone gets through a pregnancy without having a nervous breakdown is completely beyond me.
