May be that it is moving where you can'f feel it, IYSWIM, like against your back?

If you're worried, get mw to do haetrbeat.

colditz · 05/01/2006 11:18

Mine doesn't move around a great deal either Enid. (26 weeks)

zephyrcat · 05/01/2006 11:19

I've been wondering the same...I'm 25/6 weeks and it's all pretty quiet in there...I thought I remembered dd and ds moving about a bit more by now.

Bubbaloo · 05/01/2006 11:38

My Ds is 6 months old now but when I was pg I could hardly feel him move at all.
My GP even felt a kick which I didn't.
I'm sure It's nothing to worry about but if your'e concerned speak to your midwife.#
My ds is a terrible fidget now and doesn't keep still for 5 mins-lol!
HTH.

Enid · 05/01/2006 12:09

thanks everyone

feel better now

it does move but not very much, just a few lazy twitches

enid, i had this with dd1, do keep a "kick chart" it helped me to discuss it with the midwife & for her to reassure me everything was fine.

Marina · 05/01/2006 12:12

Dare I even mention the possibility of increased padding and decreased abs of steel...and yes I know you are reed-like usually Enid
some babies are definitely lazier than others. Dd was a right fidget, ds who came first, a loafer par excellence.

lyra41 · 05/01/2006 12:16

Hi

I'm 40+ weeks pg and my ds didn't move much for ages either. i think i just didn't feel him moving poss beecause of reasons Marina mentions, and also because the placenta is on the front wall of my uterus and cushioned any movements for quite a while. i felt much more movement from 30 weeks and now i wish he'd stop moving and get on with being born!

colditz · 05/01/2006 12:17

Yes I just get the odd rumbley in-the-bath or just-eaten movements... until I go to bed and nod off, then all hell breaks loose.

Enid · 05/01/2006 12:19

yes my steel-like abs are distinctly spongy

all movements feel very low down in pelvis

hope it doesnt fall out

Its something like 10 movements an hour you need to check for when sat quietly. usually after having a sugarly drink/snack.

Babies often sleep when you're still at this stage and wake up when you move about so you are less likely to feel them at this stage because they move when you do.

QueenVictoria · 05/01/2006 12:27

Except of course at night time like colditz says

All in preparation for when they are born of course.

Enid · 05/01/2006 12:28

none of mine have ever kicked at night time

I thought it was 10 movements a day? Apparantly if youre worried drink a glass of freezing cold water this makes it move. Both mine kicked well hard after 6mnths often in little bursts but sometimes i didnt notice all day. unless you sit around waiting for kicks you probly missing them as they wont be that hard yet. like thingy said check with the experts youre best to be overcautious xx

i thought it was 10 movements a day too? for some reason, my dd always seemed to move when i ate chocolate! dont know if that was just a coincidence? but used to feel her more when i was sitting down relaxing

Enid · 05/01/2006 13:26

10 movements an hour

even I don't do that much

OP posts:
QueenVictoria · 05/01/2006 13:26

The check test i was told to do was to sit down, relax, then check the clock. Sometimes you will feel 10 movements in 10 minutes, sometimes 10 in over an hour. If not movements in the hour, have a sweet or sugary snack, sit down and relax for a further hour and check.

I reiterate - thats just the advice i was given. I dont want to send people into a panic - im not an expert!

cori · 05/01/2006 18:41

Enid, I am feeling the same way. Iam 23 weeks pregnant.I am sure DS moved more, I spoke to the hospital about it. They said after 24 weeks movements really start to increase. We are probably just being paranooid.

I think the check test is for later pregnancy.

QueenVictoria · 05/01/2006 18:57

hospital is right cori - 24-28 weeks is the peak movement time.

Although tbh i always felt more and more movement the bigger he/she/i got. My babies were huge and long though.
