I'm 23 weeks and this baby seems to be very low, we had to go back for a second 20 week scan as baby was wedged head down very low in my pelvis and refused to budge. At the second it was in the same position but sonographer could see slightly better. My bump is quite small despite measuring ok, I do seem to be carrying towards my back if that makes sense.
Yesterday I had horrible back pain just down my left side, very low down right on my pelvis. I got dp to rub my back and when he did hit a particular spot it was as if he physically moved the baby Shock I felt it unbudge and the pain was gone. I have had problems with my tailbone in the past, it's fairly prominent, it was suggested to me by my doctor that I had an extra bone? Would it be possible for the baby to actually get into a position that would cause that pain, and more to the point, would dp actually have managed to move it?? That's the thing that freaked me out most tbh. I'm not used to babies being low down or engaging as both others have been back to back and didn't engage, can it actually happen this early, and is it safe to have my back rubbed if it actually makes the baby jump out of the way? Asking here before i make a fool of myself with the midwife Grin

It's unlikely to be engaging per se, just resting on the bones. dd2 was like this. It's safe enough to have your back rubbed as nothing like that will cause distress (if it's not too hard) and getting the baby to move is the best way to relieve pain! I used to rock back and forth and arch my back a little to get dd1 to move out of painful places, dd2 I used to massage myself and sometimes I used to actually push/pull my belly up/the baby up so that I got some relief. As long as you don't get MORE pain and you still are feeling lots of movements then there are no worries :)

pregnancy it's great isn't it Wink
