39+2 had SPD thoughout but today the front of my pelvis, literally my fanjo is really hurting, not sure how to describe it - it's a sharp pain but not stinging, feels like it's my ligaments/muscles not like, inside....but it hurts! Took some paracetemol, no posiion is comfortable

Any ideas?

I'm not at that stage yet but could it be the baby's head engaging? Just a thought, I have no idea what it feels like.

Sounds like head engaging. I'm 38+4 and have had the same pain for a few days although mine stops if I rest for a while. Just think it's the head stretching ligaments as it's in a new position.

well that'd make sense, can't remember it last time but was engaged 3/5th by now last time

even rest doesn't make it go away, am finally now wanting the baby out!

bless - about to start an SPD rant thread of my own. (only 9 weeks and its started already). Last time I had pain like a lit cigarette being held against my fanjo on the pubic bone, is it there? If so, then that is your symphisis pubis joint which is likely inflamed. It will be aggravated by baby engaging, but hopefully at your late stage you have only got a week or two to bear it! If you aren't on proper pain relief go back to your GP. I know lots of people panic about taking anything stronger than paracetamol, but to put it in perspective I was on 120mg of codeine a day last time, for about 6 weeks at the end. I know people with SPD who have been on double that dose. I highly recommend getting advice on low dose regular codeine for now to tide you over (even co-codamol 500/8 would prob help). I feel your pain! Good luck with everything!

thankyou! it's really similar to the pain I had when I jarred my pelvis a few weeks ago, a session with the osteopath then ice packs on and off for 24hours made it go away....ugh, soggy knickers again then!
