Ahhhhhhhh! Why won't this baby come out?

Chocolocolate · 18/11/2011 21:12

We're all ready - house is ready, cot is set up, baby clothes washed etc but baby will not come out.

I'm 8 days overdue and have felt no signs of labour at all. Midwife attempted a sweep on Wednesday but my cervix was shut. Doctor will attempt again tomorrow. (First Baby)

I'm just so fed up of being pregnant, of not yet being able to buy little dresses or dungarees as we don't know the sex etc.

I have sleepless nights due to bad hip pain - I should be up with a screaming baby by now, not hip pain.

Is anyone else this fed up?

I'm also fed up of everyone saying try curry/sex/pineapple etc - I've tried it all!

Sorry (just ranting).

I went 8 days over. I feel your pain!

But in a few days you will have a little baby, all yours, to cuddle all day long. It feels like forever but not long now.

Chocolocolate · 18/11/2011 21:19

Thanks Iggly,

Right now it feels like I'm going to be pregnant forever!

You can come round to mine and have a go on the trampoline ??? GrinGrin

Good luck OP XXX

Iggly · 18/11/2011 21:38

Oh yes I remember that feeling!!!! Especially as two of my neighbours due after me had theirs first Envy

Nothing I say will help, so I'll just sympathise. I'm 38 weeks and preparing for a 42 weeker Grin

Chocolocolate · 18/11/2011 22:03

Cheers for the offer catinboots Wink

I've been bouncing like mad on my birthing ball - head isn't even engaged yet.

I think it would help if I wasn't getting so many texts everyday saying "Any signs? or "Any twinges?" etc Some from people who I hardly talk to normally.

showtunesgirl · 18/11/2011 22:11

waves I'm in the same boat. 41 weeks here today and I've had my third sweep today and the baby is kicking the crap out of me and NOTHING!

Nicola10 · 18/11/2011 22:28

Can't offer any advice as mine were 8 weeks prem, but good luck to all you ladies in waiting!Smile

NoSeriously · 18/11/2011 23:10

Remeber no baby has ever refused to exit. It is hard when you feel like you've been pregnant longer than most elephants but you wont be in less than a week.

I was nearly 2 weeks over due and didn't believe it when i had contractions or water broke as I mentally had lost it and believed I would be pregnant forever. Midwife looked at me like I had grown another head when I said I didn't call ahead as didn'tthink it was labour. She said well you're two weeks over due contracting and your water has broken... Thats kind of a good sign.

Wingdingdong · 18/11/2011 23:22

I went 17 days over. My waters never broke - the amniotic fluid just got reabsorbed. The contractions were so ineffective I didn't know I was having them. DD was only ever 2/5 engaged, I was 0cm dilated, right up until the emcs for fetal distress...

Make sure they scan you and monitor you properly. Babies might not refuse to exit but sometimes they can't. DD's head was too big for my pelvis; luckily she's mostly fine now but she needed a year of physio and other appts, and is still on medication due to postmaturity. The hospital didn't do anything other than 4 sweeps and cervix checks until 16 days OD, by which time the placenta had already started disintegrating and the fluid levels were

BulstrodeTheApatosaurus · 18/11/2011 23:26

Oh my sympathies, I was you 3 years ago. The baby will come and you will be free. Talk to your midwife to arrange a date for induction and then at least you have a day when it will end. Also scan to check placenta and baby ok.
Good luck!!!

Meta4 · 18/11/2011 23:26

Only 2 days over but am fecked off, mainly as midwife predicted at 38 weeks that baby would come early.

I really wish she just hadn't. I feel like I'm about a month overdue.

Iggly · 19/11/2011 09:00

Ignore the MW Meta, it's all guesswork on their part!

Choco I hope you're labouring away Wink

yummicheddars · 19/11/2011 09:02

I was 11 days overdue with my first, and I only gt induced because I had preclampsia developing. And there was a post saying no baby refuses...well ya can get some very stubborn ones! Lol. I was in labour for 24 hours, the pushing stage for 5 hours, because every time I nearly got his head out, he moved his head side to side and slid bk in!! Midwife couldn't believe it...she said he really doesn't want to come out. Lol. He also didn't fully engage. Had to push him down. But you no what I kept thinking...its got to happen one day soon. There's only so far overdue you can go. They don't usually like you to go over 14 days. So keep thinking baby will be here in the next week! All you can do. Just stay positive and good luck! You will be holding ur baby in no time.

Chocolocolate · 19/11/2011 19:56

Thanks for all the replies.

I can't believe they let you go that far overdue without monitoring wingdingdong - that's awful. Hope your DD has recovered well and this pregnancy goes OK.

Update: I'm not in labour, but lost my mucus plug today (sorry if tmi). GP could not manager sweep (I honestly think due to inexperience of doing them) but he said my cervix seemed favourable and admitted a finger. Fingers crossed.

I'm still bouncing on the birthing ball eating pineapple. Will be induced on Tuesday if baby hasn't come out of his/her own accord, but would really like to start naturally.

I went two weeks over and went on all fours to watch tv. I had a show the next day and delivered her the day after that. It might work! Otherwise, ple4ase just be nice to yourself while you can Smile

Claire129 · 19/11/2011 20:12

I have 3 kiddies and all of them were late so feeling your pain. 1st dd was a week late and the other 2 dc were 10 days late. Try not to worry your little bundle of joy will soon be here. Good Luck xxx

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 19/11/2011 20:14

Book expensive theatre tickets for tomorrow - it's fail safe Grin

If the 'texters' are driving you mad, just tell them that it's stressing you out and you will let them know when there is any action (you don't have to, but it might stop them pestering you!!), though I do have to say, it's hard to know what to do because if you text to see how things are, you are in trouble and if you don't you are ignoring them & are in trouble!!...Confused

Fingers crossed that your little one decides they fancy coming out soon - but if you have been watching the weather reports it's no wonder they've decided to stay inside - it's chilly out here!!

glitternanny · 20/11/2011 08:36

I hear ur pain! I'm only 2 days od but it feels like a lifetime. Had so many texts asking what's happening.... Aaarrrgggghhhhh

I refused to answer my phone the other day!

Sure the theatre tickets will work!!

I think all the ball bouncing, pineapple, curry etc will work only if bubb is ready!! My man isn't completely engaged yet.

Chocolocolate · 22/11/2011 09:43

OK,

So, contractions started in Asda on Sunday. Quite frequent but not too intense.

They've since got a lot more painful but not very frequent (approx every 8 mins now) so I'm still at home. Haven't slept for the past two nights with the contractions.

Was booked in for induction at 8am today but they're busy so asked me to call back at 10am.

Ahh, this is horrible and painful.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 22/11/2011 10:14

Oh lovey! I saw the first line and thought we had a new arrival already!

What happened when you called at 10?

PCPMatters · 22/11/2011 11:09

Have I caught you with precious bambino still in precious oven?? If so. .....
Just by reading your post I can tell that the messages that yr sending your womb are 'I'm in danger, keep our VIP cargo until I can find a safer place'. (The natural biochemical instinct). With that said, my 2pennethworth would be to relax.... (not recline, otherwise you'll set yourself up for an excruciating back labour; go on yr hands and knees as much as possible, sit on yr dining chair instead, (or the gym ball) facing the the back rest with a pillow you can lean on, ensure that yr hips are higher than your knees). Have you tried clary Sage/Lavender oil in the bath also as a massage oil? Labour works well and quickly when you are relaxed. I'm sure that you've been on the RLF (raspberry leaf tea) since you were 37 wks. HTH. BTW did you attend any antenatal booster classes? Good luck
