18wks is still very early, despite this being no. 4. Do you know where your placenta is? If anterior you might not feel stuff for weeks yet.
As for cramping, call MW. Only they can tell you whether to be more or less worried! They'd rather you rang and were reasuured than spent the night worrying and in pain.

Hotpotpie · 18/11/2011 22:07

Ive been dead worried about the same thing - we need little wrigglers!

tentative123 · 18/11/2011 22:08

I didnt feel much until about 22 weeks... and now its all the time!

blondieminx · 18/11/2011 23:25

My friend at work has had 2 DC and we were pregnant with our girls at the same time. With both of her kids she didn't feel movement till somewhere around 22 wks because of the position of the placenta. And what Oesha said about calling the MW re cramps, better to get checked over and have your mind put at rest :)

I am also exp No4, felt all the others around the 14 week mark, but this time it was 16/17 weeks before I started to feel any flutters, very random and far between.

They also did not seem as strong, they have become more noticible and frequent but I started to wonder where my placenta was knowing this can be a factor.

Went for my 20 week scan yesterday I asked the sonographer if my placenta was at the front and she said,'have you felt that the kicks have been cushioned?', I told her the above and she confirmed I have an Anterior (but high) placenta this time hence the softer sensations!

When have you got your next scan? Speak to your midwife see if she can listen in for reassurance and as others suggested a quick check over re cramps.

HardCheese · 19/11/2011 12:16

I'm only having my first baby, but I've been told I have a high anterior placenta, hence not feeling a great deal of movement.

nickelbabe · 19/11/2011 16:28

I felt my first movements at just under 20 weeks.
It was just bubbling.
and I only knew for definite it was movements when we had the 22week scan and the baby did a wobble on the screen at the same time I felt a wobble in my belly.

DC1 at 21 weeks, tought I felt flutterings from 15wks with DC2 but from 17-21weeks felt nothing at all

But yeah get the midwife to listen to your baby's heartbeat just to give yourself peace of mind, am sure tis all fine

lottiegb · 19/11/2011 16:58

I'm on my first and took a while to distinguish movement from digestive activity. Not really confident til about 22 weeks.

Minus273 · 19/11/2011 18:17

I have an anterior placenta and I was unsure about movement at 18 weeks.. Call your MW if you are worried about the cramps.

threecurrantbuns · 20/11/2011 22:16

Thanks all, I have felt flutters too but I can't say for sure I'm feeling movement yet.

The cramps have now gone and Friday night when I originally posted my dd1 woke a midnight and was sick the rest of the night so I think I can put the cramps down to that.

I had anterior placenta with my 4th. Felt nothing really till 18 weeks. I'm sure it will be as simple as that - try not to worry

Hotpotpie · 20/11/2011 22:24

Can I just ask I quick question - for the past two days I think I might have started feeling the baby, I feel like there is a butterfly fluttering about and its much more noticable when ive eaten and later in the day BUT it feels very low down almost like its on top of where my cervix is - could this be the baby or something else entirely?

Oeisha · 24/11/2011 11:48

Could be baby. Mine felt like popping bubblegum to begin with, and again was very low down. Could also be something else, you never know! I went with it being baby as I couldn't think of what else it could be as I have IBS and knew pretty well that this wasn't anything bowl related.

TimothyClaypoleLover · 24/11/2011 11:52

I am 16 weeks with DC2 and was convinced yesterday I felt some "bubbling" but then I have been extremely windy of late so it might have just been that!!
