DD is 2 weeks now. Just thinking of tasks insist I had done before she arrived.

Service wash washing machine with White vinegar/90 Forgot how much its work increases!

Have a hair cut.

Defrost freezer.

Wrap all birthday presents for coming month or two.

Anyone else think of anything?

Another tip re thank you cards. If it's your 1st baby particularly, lots of people you wouldn't expect will send presents - your neighbours, your mum's neighbours, etc etc. it is SOOO easy to get in a pickle as to who sent what.

As you unwrap each present, make a list of the sender and the present. Keep it in one place (I wrote my list directly into the back of the address book). Then when I wrote my thank you cards, I ticked off each one. I still do this for the DDs birthdays and Christmas presents.

It's awful when you have some absolutely gorgeous and sometimes expensive stuff and you have not a clue who sent it!!

if all else fails my friend uploaded a pic of the newborn onto one of those photo websites, and got a load of pretty postcards printed with the pic and pre-printed on the back with "thank you for the baby present love XXX" so there was no need to write out individual cards just had to pop address and stamp on, also she wasn't worried about writing specifically "thanks for the Gap cardi... or was it the piggy bank? The White Company teddy? "Grin

I am now on ml for 6 weeks all being well. My list consists of -
Get carpet fitted in nursery
Gut the dc s bedrooms
Wrap and finish buying Christmas pressies
Transfer all cds onto hard drive and bin all but the very favourites
Sort out all the photos on various camaras and phone print out good ones and transfer all to hard drive
Touch up the paint in every room I still have paint for
Make a blind and matching seat for blanket box
Fill freezer up
Sort out shoe cupboard

If I do all that I will be far busier than if I was working!

With dd1 I was told on the thu that I would be induced following day so that night exh & I went for a nice meal...(figured that would be last one for a while) then it occurred to me the coming monday was a bank holiday so pictured us being swamped by visitors on the sun & monday coming to see baby!!... so after meal I went home for a relaxing bath & sent exh on a mad dash to Ikea to buy all new cups/mugs & glasses & a few fold up chairs then on to Tescos for extra tea, coffee sugar, biscuits, cakes & wine & beer to keep visitors happy!!! I was so pleased that we would be offering such hospitality but then turns out induction was'nt as quick as I thought it would be!! ...eventually had emergeny c-section on the sunday night & did'nt come home til the wednesday!! Still at least we had plenty of food in!!! lol :-0

Think of all birthdays and occasions coming up in the next year.
Get a box file, buy cards for each, arrange in order, address the envelopes, bung some stamps in.
Set your computer up with reminders and present ideas if you need it.
Keep this going for about five years. I SO WISH I had done this. My brain was mince for half a decade.
