Ok, I'm back. Wasn't as bad as I imagined, helped largely by the inane chatter throughout serving as a distraction no doubt! I personally feel much better having bare skin down there so I'm glad I braved it. Now hoping the regrowth is slow and NOT ingrowing! Thanks for all the differing viewpoints ladies, love mumsnet fo the variety of responses and different opinions/experiences Grin

At 35 weeks you won't be able to see the result anyway... unless you use a mirror :)

I simply wouldn't bother. Scissors is enough for me.

scarlettsmummy2 · 14/11/2011 17:57

just a point- the stitches are likely to be internal so it doesn't really make a difference if there is hair or not.

GobblersKnob · 14/11/2011 18:50

My stitches were not just internal, both times......

tip for ingrowing hairs - I use something called "Tend Skin" followed by a good but light moisturiser, never had a problem with ingrowing hairs after a wax thanks to this miracle stuff, but still get them from creams and shaving is so bloody itchy and sore and rashy.

AM a bit scared of my booking on thursday still....

pregnantmimi · 14/11/2011 21:56

Oh glad it went well tea tree is great for ingrowing hairs little in bath stops them. Im having hollywood on wed cant wait to get rid of the hair it gets so itchy and annoying having it back there. Just hope Im dont trump as the wax strip is ripped off... parp Blush

my2centsis · 15/11/2011 00:31

i attempted to do this myself with a mirror last week as i was 35weeks, oh my fricken god, never again, words dont describe how much that hurts!! i would NOT recommend it lol

I only ended up doing about 5little strips, then got the razor... way easier

pregnantmimi · 17/11/2011 07:36

had a hollywood yesterday feels great not having any hair there and didnt hurt much at all well worth it

phlossie · 17/11/2011 09:19

Good tip, girlwiththemouseyhair (which hair does your nn refer too?!?!)

I think waxing for childbirth is mental. You're going to be stretched the size of the channel tunnel, you're likely to shit yourself, you may well moo like a cow and you'll be in so much pain you won't care that you're doing any of those things. I really don't think the hair style of your lady garden will be a factor! Unessecary pain, stubbly regrowth, looking like a pre-pubescent girl... no thanks. Plus, my bushy pubes hide the fact that giving birth twice has given me labial bat-wings.

pregnantmimi · 17/11/2011 15:04

each to there own personally find hair there ithy and annoying when long rather than the look

eastnorth · 17/11/2011 21:51

Igot the hedge trimmer out for me.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 17/11/2011 22:08

Had my Brazilian today and wasn't as painful as expected to be honest. Light exfoliation and moisturiser, I already feel cleaner. Reiterating I got it done for post birth cleanliness not to look good during labour! plus its what I normally have, growth is so much better and easier to keep clean than a big old bush!

i highly recommend the wilkinson razor/bikini trimmer. you can buy it at boots or the supermarket, along with the normal razors and the trimmer end is so super easy to use in the shower (no scissors or mirror needed!). not as nice an effect as a full wax but definitely an improvement on the forest with no pain or worries of regrowth!
