Hi i am 38 +3 days and have felt very little movement today. I have tried lying down and cold drinks etc but still nothing.

Is this normal late in pregnancy??

Ring your midwife. If you aren't feeling as many movements then you have to ring them to get checked over.

LaVitaBellissima · 12/11/2011 22:10

I would call your midwife/labour ward, always best to get checked out.

RueDeWakening · 12/11/2011 22:11

No, go in and get checked out. Movement should not reduce just because you're at full term and baby does not "run out of room". Not worth risking things for.

Good luck.

LoveBeingAFirework · 12/11/2011 22:12

Give them a ring better to be safe, otherwise you will get zero sleep tonight.

zumm · 12/11/2011 22:12

Yes - get this checked out - I was in and out of hospital at this stage (albeit for other reasons) - they will check the heart-rate etc. Stay calm though. Pl let us know how you get on. xx

no not normal, please ring labour ward/triage go in and get a CTG done NOW

morethemerrier · 12/11/2011 22:13

I would agree with all other posters, dont wait ring and go in to be checked out.

Dalrymps · 12/11/2011 22:16

Deffo get checked out. Very important to get checked of you notice any change in movements.

scaevola · 12/11/2011 22:20

Yes, go and get it checked out.

The nature of movements might change a bit when there is less room, but that means big definite squirms rather than kicks, not reduced vigour or frequency.

Don't panic - babies do have quieter days. But you do, really do, need to be checked.

FirstTimeMummyToBe · 12/11/2011 22:20

Thanks for all the replys. I have phoned Triage and going to go in and get checked out! Will keep everyone updated!

Thank god for that. These threads play havock with my heart - it stops. Too many MNers with sad stories, it's scary. So glad the little monster is just testing you!!

zumm · 14/11/2011 13:25

Frins from me too - great news! Good luck with the rest of the preg. And the things/frins to come Grin

nickelbabe · 14/11/2011 13:29

good news, I'm so glad it's all okay. :)
I had a similar worry yesterday - I didn't feel any movements for about 2 hours, and I was really starting to panic (not knowing if I was overreacting)
then I lay down on the settee at the opposite end, and I go a good movement as the baby turned over with me.
today, it's been moving more than ever! (must have just been comfy)

I'm glad you got it checked out - I really would be reluctant to, because I worry that someone else has a more important concern/problem than mine.
But I have a friend who's a midwife, and she has told me stories about still-births, so I know the MW won't think it's me wasting time. but it's such a dilemma. :(

EdithWeston · 14/11/2011 13:33

I find these threads worrying too, but if I see one I usually post something on it in order to bump it back onto active convos so people see it. It's to raise awareness that reduced movement really does need to be checked, and midwives don't, really don't see it as a nuisance.

Even though for the vast majority, and thankfully in this case, it is just a random quieter day (so no need for panic), it is something you should always have checked.
