21 weeks and bright red spotting when i have just been to the loo

As above really, I have just been to the loo and noticed a tiny bit of pink blood when I wiped (sorry if tmi!) I sat a bit longer and every time I checked, there was more blood spots - but very small - about the size of one of the letters whilst Im typing this.

I am now panicking and wondering whether I should call midwife or if I am over reacting, as it was such a tiny amount. I have just drunk some cold water to see if I could make my baby move for a bit of reassurance, but so far he seems to be asleep.

Any advice? Please tell me Im worrying about nothing. I live alone and there isn't really anyone in RL I can ask about this.

Thank you x

I'd pop along to your local hospital. It might be nothing, but why sit at home and worry?

I always found Orange Juice was good to get movement.

Best of luck to you xxx

Get yourself checked out - don't worry all night

sillymillyb · 12/11/2011 20:05

Ah thank you both - I am going to call hospital now (after another trip to the loo to check again) My baby is usually a wriggler at night so Im hoping he gets moving soon. I really appreciate the responses - thank you.

I agree with others that you should get it checked out, NOT because I know anything that you don't know (not a midwife, no medical training at all), but because you sound worried and you will not be sorry you went.

Hopefully there's no trouble at all, but if there is something up, you won't be wishing you hadn't gone in.

And if you go in and get a reassuring information and a scan, you'll be much relieved and you won't be wishing you hadn't gone in.

I know it's easy to say - it is scary when you're the one faced with making the phone call.

FWIW, I had bleeding in my pregnancy (more than what you're describing), and DD is a happy healthy 2 year old now.

Best of luck x

Glad you decided to ring, cloudydays sums up my reasoning. Hope the hospital is helpful x

griphook · 12/11/2011 20:16

any chance it could be a uti instead

ballstoit · 12/11/2011 20:17

That's not bad sweetheart, but you'll need an Anti-D jab. Will be thinking of you. Please let us know how you get on.

rocksandhardplaces · 12/11/2011 20:24

I had some of this on last pregnancy, was cervical ectropion (sp?)... basically erosion of soft cells of cervix from hormonal changes.

Check it out x

Thinking of you, sillymilly - really hoping that all has gone well. Please update if you can x

sillymillyb · 12/11/2011 23:12

Hi all - I have just walked back in the door. First off, thank you all so much for your responses, I was trying to be brave but was really a wibbly mess.

They have checked baby over - and he is fine thank god! They think it is cervical erosion (same as you Rocks) but are checking for infections and have taken my blood to see if there is any of the babies mixed in with mine. I am going back tomorrow morning to have the anti D injection as a precaution anyway, but they were so reassuring and I feel a million times better.

Oh, and my wriggly baby started moving as soon as I got in the car to come home....

Thank you all again, from a very relieved sillymilly! x

That's great to hear! Now you go straight to bed young lady, and take it easy.
All the best.

sillymillyb · 12/11/2011 23:43

I am heading straight to bed now I promise! Have just sat down on the sofa and burst into tears, this having a baby malarkie isn't half scary sometimes! I know I keep saying thank you, but mumsnet was a real godsend this evening, I just needed someone to tell me I was doing the right thing and not causing a fuss. Anyway, bed.... Im knackered after all that excitement!

Just got up and seen that you are both okay Smile

Hope you slept well. Wriggle your toes while you're having the Anti-D jab...for some reason that makes it a little less painful x
