right before everyone comes in with the usual 'isn't the baby growing inside you present enough', yes of course it is my DP hasn't asked for a present I would like to give him something special AS WELL AS A BABY to say thank you for taking such good care of me for 9 months!

Okay so moving on: I'm planning on putting together a new dad survival kit sort of thing with a few things in for him! I'm hoping to have a sort of mix of practical and funny items as well maybe a few cute little things 'from baby'. Has anyone done anything like this before? If you have what did you put in yours? Or anyone got any different ideas? Or even anyone ask their DP what they would have liked/found funny/useful?

Thanks xxx

MrFawkesMan- just bought that book for DH's stocking last night- now worried as he isn't at all a technie! it does sound funny though, so hopefully he'll get something out of it.

I love the daddy needs sleep mug and also the vouchers idea

MrFawkesMan · 13/11/2011 20:37

OF- I wouldn't worry, I think most guys will 'get it' Smile

This is fab, was racking my brains for things myself

So far I have as a list,

Condoms
Ear Plugs
Superdad Pj's
Bacon (as the smell makes me as sick as dog at the moment)
Dressing gown (I can not believe he does not own one)
A large Mr Grumpy mug
Some lego
A book of IOU's for sex
A book of general IOU's
A Mr Bump mug and Toy (from bump)

The Baby Owners Manual is brilliant, it strikes the right balance between being funny and actually having some quite good tips. Also, Vicks Vapour rub is brilliant for dad's to smear under their noses before nappy changes.

Bottle of gin and a pack of valium. Seriously.

he won't thank you for Dad socks, I can tell thee.

Hey, for those looking for wine that will mature over 18+ years, Berry Brothers are pretty good: www.bbr.com, although 18 years is a bit on the long side even for Bordeaux so it needs to be a pretty good bottle. I don't think whisky matures in the bottle but it will keep, so no harm in keeping it for 18 years. (I'll put in a little shout for Auchentoshan, my local distillery - although it's a very smooth whisky so not the best present for ardent single malt drinkers!)

yummymummyyobe1: ooo i like the bacon idea! think that will be very much appreciated considering the smell atm makes me want to throw up too! I also like the pjs idea!

FunnysInTheGarden: socks were just going to be a little joke thing, i think my DP will appreciate the little jokey things i plan to put in, but might not bother with socks and just go with slippers and a dressing gown so, maybe label them as 'from the baby' to enhance the joke

hannahkj19 I am trying to think of all the things I have banished to date as extra gifts.

hannahkj19 · 14/11/2011 14:26

yummymummy: i know what you mean, but then i begin to wonder if this might mean i need a large suitcase to contain all of these items lol xxx

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/11/2011 14:41

There is that, although I might actually remove th sex IOUS as I am always wanting it and mt DP can't hack the pace. Wink twice a day is not too much.
