Ok so l slipped over yesterday in the rain and landed on the road on my left side. Was in a bit of a mess at the time wet, scared and quite hysterical in tears. A neighbour picked me up and took me inside and sorted DD1 out. Once l calmed down l was ok, think l was just a bit shocked.

The baby has been going crazy all night, big movements, and has calmed down a bit now, l phoned my mw and she said that it happens all the time and if baby is moving everything is ok but now getting aches all down my right hand side (fell on left), a few lower back pains and cant get hold of mw. Is this normal, am l just sore after landing the way l did or have l pulled something?

Probably over reacting but has anyone else had this happen?

I would go get checked out, A&E with you!

No point taking any risks and for your peace of mind. I say a&e as could just be muscles but the maternity might be fine also.

I fell over at 28 weeks and my MW said the same - as long as you're feeling baby move, you should be fine. I think it's only a major concern if you fall ON your bump, iykwim?

I didn't bother going to A&E, just took things easy and kept an eye on baby's movements - am now coming up for 33 weeks.

definitely get it checked.

I fell over at about 34 weeks while out walking the dogs, I started contracting so sent to get examined, my BP was up so they admitted me at the hospital and I stayed there for 4-5 days. Contractions eventually stopped. Baby eventually delivered at 42+ weeks.

Hope you are okay and not you aren't too sore. Brew why is there no emotive for chocolate?

Another vote for getting it checked but it's worth remembering that your uterus is a muscle. Your little belly floater has not only amniotic fluid, your stomach muscles and your skin protecting him/her but also a socking great band of thick muscle. A friend slipped and fell on a bollard when she was heavily pg and the baby is fine (now a month old). She was in agony though as you might imagine.

I imagine you gave him/her a bit of a shock and that's why he was dancing all over the place.

And I'd expect the pains to go on right hand side and your back as well, your core muscles stretch from one side to another like a corset so a bang to one end would effect the other end.

Thanks everyone, l feel much better now with all these replies and l've just spoke with Dr. Right hand side normal to be in pain and they are happy as long as long as l dont start to loose fluid and the pain is not consistant with stabing pains or regular low back pains (like contractions). Am in work now so will see what its like this afternoon, if any concerns when time to leave will pop to hospital on way home.
