I've had none of my blood test results or scan results put in my book

None of my blood test results are even with my book (unlike the scans where I have a print out).

Its gonna be no use to the hospital if I end up needing blood cos they can't look at my notes to tell them....

Are the blood results on the computer system at your GPs/MWs? At our GPs, you can get a print out of all test results very easily (my GP just ran one off for me in about 30 seconds). Can you phone the GP / MW (or both) and find out if you can have a copy printed off and left for you at the surgery reception, so you can add it to the notes?

I am amazed they haven't put this in your notes - that really is bad!

We have to put them in our notes ourselves Hmm They get sent to us in the post and we're supposed to stick them in.

I was given a tip - take one of your stickers (we have printouts of stickers with maternity number, name, address and doctor) and stick it somewhere like your wallet and write your blood group on it so if no notes, at least you have that?

By the way it is rare to need blood (unless you have a particular history)? And they can check your blood group quickly - think about other situations where it's needed. Also ask your MW at the next appointment.

They may not be in your hand held notes but they are almost certainly in the hospital notes that are kept in the records dept at the hospital. When you are admitted they are then taken from the records dept and follow you around the hospital until discharge. It is also more than likely that the results can be pulled up on any computer screen in the hospital by a member of staff just by using your hospital number (which will be on your hand held notes). In the unlikely even that you end up at another hospital they would treat you the same as any emergency admission that needed blood (eg a road traffic accident victim) and use a blood type that is usually universally acceptable for all blood types. HTH :)
