I have slightly sore and slightly enlarged boobs, but not massively. Did not go up a bra size yet. Even this soreness is on off. I developed some acne from week 5 and it is still there but now it feels dry as well. I feel tired most of the time but some days I am shattered at about 6 p.m. I went off food from early pregnancy and lost about 2 kilos now I do want to eat again but detest most things I liked before.
I don't wee more often and don't have any sickness.

Hello! This is my scan day today. I am trying to be positive. I don't have any definite symptoms that makes me worried. I waited for this pregnancy for so long and made so much efforts to get where I am that I need it it to work out.
My breast tenderness did not return ( it stopped at week 6). I may have some nausea but may be it is me just analysing everything. So I just have to wait and see. My apetite is a bit patchy some moments I am hungry but could not decide what I really want and some I don't feel like eating. My energy level is much better than past couple of weeks...
Have a nice day everyone!

How did your scan go katherine ?

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 11:50

Hi! My scan went ok, thank you! Despite my worries of lost symptoms the baby seems to be growing. Strangely enough it is very difficult to stop worrying anyway. I went to see my GP who was kind of vague when I asked why my boobs are not behaving like they were in first pregnancy. From what he said I made out that he knows less then me about pregnancy /or doesn't really care. I went to see him just after my scan but he said that if I am unsure of my symptoms I should do a pregnancy test(?!).
Now I have to book appointment with midwife and hope to get another scan before Christmas. I am really looking forward to get to 12 weeks and hopefully I will be able to relax and make announcement for the family and friends.

I think I'm about 6 weeks (really hard to tell since the test just says 3+ and the GP didn't do anything to check). My back is killing me... I can't sleep at all and have to sleep in the spare room cos of all the tossing and turning. GP prescribed cocodamol and that helped me sleep Friday night but I've been awake about 4am every other night for about 2 weeks now. It's making me pretty irritable. I'm crying over everything at the mo - my husband opened a bottle of beer Friday and I sobbed like a baby :) . I generally feel like crap... called in sick Wed and Thurs (and I'm never sick). Throat's sore. My boobs are fine but hubby reckons they're bigger. I don't really have anyone to compare stories with and I haven't a clue what's going on but, if this is the beginning, how am I gonna get through another 7+ months of this? Shock

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 12:11

HelenHen - I hope your sleeping problem will go away soon. I had sleeping problem at 4-5 weeks but now it is OK apart from occasional nigh sweats and waking up to go to loo. I suggest to find a good acupuncturist - they can definitely help you with your sleeping problem and your irritability. You may need only a couple of appointments and some insurance covers the cost.

Thanks Katherine - I HATE needles though :o

I've always wanted kids but pregnancy and labour are pretty much my worst nightmare.. I think I was secretly hoping it wouldn't happen. I've never been sick so am a terrible patient and any changes in my body freak me out a bit... so the next few months are kinda worrying :o Basicly I'm scared sh1tless... and I'm 31... oh dear! Blush

HelenHen · 13/11/2011 12:30

Oh, I gave up caffeine months ago once we started trying... however, as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I started craving coffee lol. Turns out decaf actually tastes the same :) I use the kenco decaf and it's sorted me right out... I'm having about 5 cups a day.

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 12:33

I was almost your age when I got pregnant with my first and had a lot of doubt and was scared as well. I had a great life and I was worried that it is going to change a lot. Scarred of unknown. You will be fine. You may not have many symptoms during pregnancy and in second trimester you def will feel better and have more energy. I cycled until 7.5 months and commuted every day to work and felt really good. So you may be lucky as well as soon as your sleeping problem will get better.

Thanks Katherine... I know I'm not abnormal but do feel slightly insane at the moment :o . We won't be telling family til after the scan. I'm going to tell work tomorrow though cos I'm terrified of something happening and want them to be aware really.

PieMistress · 13/11/2011 12:44

katherine great news about the scan! My boobs are also different 2nd time around. Did you breastfeed? I'd read somewhere that if you did then they are less sensitive during your next pregnancy (might be codswallop though!). I'm 7 weeks tomorrow so might go for a scan next weekend.

helen I went to an acupuncturist so sort out my cycles post miscarriage. He was amazing. You don't feel the needles at all and it's incredibly relaxing. I used to pass out and have a half hour power nap! :)

BikeRunSki · 13/11/2011 12:52

Both times, I felt fine and dandy at 6 weeks, no noticeable change in my body. My sister told me not to count my chickens.
Both times I was sick as a dog and could barely move by 7 weeks, to 14 weeks.

Good luck to all the ladies on this thread. Early pg is a horrible time, physically and emotionally.

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 12:58

Thank you PieMistress. I hope lack of boob tenderness means nothing. I do have some super mild nausea though ( or I listen to myself too much:).

I also slept like a baby during my acupuncture sessions. I find it very soothing for our pregnant minds when someone seems to be interested in what you have to say about your body behavior. I did acupuncture before and after pregnancy with two different doctors ( both Chinese) and I loved how they asked about my peeing and sleeping and energy level, things that GPs normally don't pay attention at all. I actual thought my GP sneakily slept during my appointment with him on Friday judging by the silly questions and answers he gave me.

Did you have acupuncture when you were actually pregnant katherine? I stopped when I got my bfp and unsure whether or not it's okay to keep going as have read mixed reports. I would hate to have another miscarriage and wonder if it was the acupuncture.

Hi bike (great user name BTW!) I don't remember having any symptoms first time around but my brain has gone to mush since then so I don't really remember!

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 13:08

I went to acupuncturist twice since my bfp but he only sticks needles into my hands, head and legs. It it mainly for relaxing and relieving stress (which is not good for pregnancy) because my job is quite stressful. I honestly feel better even after just chatting to him. Obviously one must trust an acupuncturist and preferably know him/her or have recommendations. I would also ask GP (not mine:)).

Last time I was pregnant, at around 8 weeks I had: v sore boobs, insomnia, frequent peeing during the night, tiredness, constant queasiness, vomiting... this time at 8 weeks I have nothing apart from tiredness.

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 13:47

It appears that second pregnancy is different from the first however I don't remember very well when I had what in my first. My boobs were certainly much more sore and gone a couple of sizes up but I don't remember which week it happened. However I think I will have bump sooner now, I am already constantly bloated and have unattractive pot belly that I am trying to suck in when someones looks my way.

OP posts:
bemybebe · 13/11/2011 13:53

I have a proper bump already! (Trying not to think of extra 4lbs and bloating though Wink) Last time I had a bump only around 16 weeks,

KatherineCam · 13/11/2011 14:02

I think I had mine at about 20 weeks ( something that others can see) but my stomach was flat to start with. So far I lost about 1-2 kg ( my scales are funny) and have trouble of gaining it back because of luck of appetite. I don't want anyone (apart from family) to know for as long as possible.

OP posts:
HelenHen · 13/11/2011 14:42

bemybebe... I don't know if I'm just being paranoid or not but I feel like I look really obviously pregnant now :o and I bet everyone at work knew I was pregnant before I did lol. I suspect that I might be further along than I think though as my last period was about 6 days late and I'm usually quite regular. The odd time I feel something kinda jump around in there too, a bit of a twinge. Is it normal to feel stuff this early?

bemybebe · 13/11/2011 15:53

Grin no idea Helen, how far along are you? I was told one can feel as soon as 14 weeks in subsequent pregnancies.

bemybebe, I'm probably about 6 weeks but it's kinda hard to tell really.

I know what ya mean bugger... until ya see it, it could be anything really... I mean we've all seen Alien :o

I was quite surprised when the doctor didn't even touch me... she didn't even have any leaflets or anything to give me... it was ridiculous.
