Any mums to be in the Maidenhead area?

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my first child and I was wondering whether there are any other mums to be in my area. I don't know very many people locally and thought it would be great if we had our own little ante-natal club...!

Yep - me! I'll join!

I am 21 weeks so just a smidge ahead of you. Expecting my first - how about you?

Let's see how many other local lasses come out of the woodwork!

So, are we the only two...??

Dollybird99 · 08/11/2011 13:05

It certainly looks like it doesn't it!! Do you live in Maidenhead itself? I am in Holyport so just outside, but don't know too many people locally (my fault really!!). Have you decided where you are having the baby? We've decided on Wexham Park - I've been asking all my friends and have had mainly good references for them!!

So how have you found being pregnant so far? This is my first and I must admit I was expecting the worst in terms of morning sickness etc but have been really lucky and have managed to escape it. I've also been keeping really active and have been walking every night after work just to keep everything moving - I think that will keep me in good stead for later on!

Shall I send you my email address, then perhaps we can arrange to meet up sometime?

Hi there!

I live outside Maidenhead too, in Cookham. Holyport is lovely.

I've booked in at the John Radcliffe, which I know better than Wexham Park as I've been there for other things. Beginning to wonder if I've made the right choice as it's a bit of a trek to get there for appointments but a few friends from the local area have delivered there with great reports (and no issues getting there in time in labour!)

I had quite bad morning sickness to start with but (fingers crossed) feeling really good now and staying active - like you mostly walking, with a bit of yoga. My main concern is how much the baby is moving - some days he/she is really energetic, others (like today) really quiet. I'm trying all sorts to get him/her dancing but very much does it when good and ready (strong willed, not surprise there!). How much movement are you feeling?

Yep, would be great to meet up - I think you can send me your email address securely by clicking 'message poster' in the top right corner of my posts, but I have never actually tried it!

Hi,

I've just done the 'message poster' thing and sent you my email address - I hope it's worked!

I love Cookham, we've been to the Ferry quite a few times on a Saturday for lunch and it's a lovely spot right by the river. We've also been to Malik's as well which is very nice too!!

A friend of mine went to the John Radcliffe and she had a really good experience there. The only thing she mentioned is how long it took to get there.

I'm glad you are feeling better now, I was dreading having MS but feel so lucky to have escaped it.

I've got my 20 week scan next week and we're going to find out what we're having - I can't wait until the end of March!!!

I know what you mean about movement, sometimes I get loads of fluttery movements, and even thought I felt a kick the other day and then some days not so much. I tend to get a lot in the evening around tea time for some reason! I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I was planning on asking my midwife the next time I see her, and also with the scan next week hopefully that should put my mind at rest. Have you spoken to anyone about it yet?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi there. Is there room for a late joiner? I've only just seen this thread. I am in Maidenhead - we moved here less than a year ago so I'm still getting the hang of the area. At coming up for 11 weeks I'm a bit behind you two! Still in the (mostly) secret phase.

If all is OK at the 12 week scan, I think I'll go for the Royal Berks in Reading. Is it just me, or does time slow right down when you're pregnant?

Dollybird99 · 18/11/2011 10:01

Hi Twiglet,

My apologies that I've only seen your message now! We would love another member of our rebel ante-natal club! Shall I send you a message with my details so that we can email each other!

Time definitely slows down when you are pregnant, or it did for me at the beginning, but now I'm past the 20 week mark I think it's starting to speed up!

Love
Dollybird

Twiglet100 · 21/11/2011 22:29

Welcome Smurfette and congratulations on your Big Secret! How are you feeling so far? Sorry for the short message but it's WAY past my bedtime now that I am a pregnant lightweight. Just wanted to say hi when I saw your post!

Dollybird99 · 22/11/2011 13:19

Hello Twiglett and Smurf,

Welcome to our ante-natal club! I will PM you both with my email address and then we can keep in touch as we go along. Somanystripes and I have already met up for a non-alcoholic beverage and compared bumps and pregnancies so far and it would be lovely to meet you both too (Smurfette - when you are ready obviously!).

Love
Dollybird xx
