Hi all,

I am just wondering what reaction you got from your other half when you announced you were pregnant?

I think my partner was quite funny really, I hadnfas that we were pregnant. Anyway we didn't think that was it at all and perhaps it was because I had just reduced my caffinee intake.

Anyway after another few days, when we were texting my partner suggested that I take a pregnancy test. So off off to Sainsbury's I go and take them both as soon as I get home. Both positive, so I try to call him and no luck so I just send a text saying "Im pregnant" his Response "are you joking" my response "no". Needles to say call and he is in shock and has to go for a cuppa. Post cuppa he calls back and we joke well we did buy a house to grow into, we will just grow into it quicker than planned.

So in under 8 weeks of becoming a couple we bought a house and found out that rather than an office, our room and two guest rooms we will have one guest room and a nursery.

It still makes me smile that my partner had to go and have the British cure for everything a cup of tea.

I would like to hear your stories,

YM1xxx

My dh didnt seem that convinced when I initially broached the subject of TTC , he muttered something about waiting a little while longer (despite us having been married 2 years) a lot of sweet talking from me mainly along the lines of 'think about how much sex we can have while trying' and 'it takes most couples months to conceive' got him to be agreeable to it. 3 weeks later when I showed him the positive test he was a little underwhelmed !!
however the following day he threw me a pregnancy tea party (just me and him as didnt tell anyone until after 1st scan) and we had balloons, a cake with candles and yummy food plus a huge bunch of flowers,so I forgave him for his initial lack of enthusiasm (I like to think it was due to the shock)

I did a test four weeks after my period just to confirm I wasn't pregnant, so I could drink lots of wine with my BFF while watching X Factor the next day. Nipped into the loo at work... And it was positive. Called DH and said, "I was going to suggest we had steak for dinner, but I can't." I love mine so rare that it's mooing. "Why?" says DH. "Because I'm pregnant," I say. "You're kidding?" he replies, then starts laughing like a loon. We'd had a MMC five months earlier and that had been my first period since the ERPC, so we couldn't believe our luck. DS is 16 weeks old today and GORGEOUS :)

I was at work and just suddenly realised my period was a couple of weeks late, I had sore boobs and had been feeling sick for a few days. We were trying but more in a not preventing kind of a way so I hadn't really been keeping track of dates. Did the test at work and surprisingly enough with those symptoms (!) It was positive. Texted dh just saying 'you better buy me a puppy' - he had always said I had to wait till pg to get a dog. Not sure on his reasoning for that but that's another story. He called me and said 'are you saying what I think you're saying? How did that happen?!". Erm, let me think!!

Anyway now have 14 week old twins and a year old dog, all sleeping peacefully at the moment!

I did my test with the first wee of the day (like the box says)..I could barely stop shaking when the little cross came up, but managed to wake DH who sleeps like a log and waved the test at him and gave him the leaflet. He looked from one to the other for a bit and then looked at me and then fell fast asleep again with the duvet over his head.

By the time I'd sent a photo of the test to my friend (we have a thing where we don't say it in words, just send a piccie) and squealed on the phone to her for half an hour, he appeared to recover and gave me a big cuddle.

First time was totally unexpected as I do not have a menstrual cycle and we never thought I could get pregnant naturally. I had been getting achey boobs and night sweats and did a test 2 Hogmanays ago whilst DH was out cycling. When he came home I told him I needed to talk to him about something. I asked him to sit down and he refused. I pleased that he really had to and eventually he gave in. When I told him I was pregnant he exclaimed, "How did that happen? Are you sure?" It took him a while but after a week he was smitten. Unfortunately we miscarried. This time round we had IUI and he made me test when I was a day late although I was convinced I wasn't pregnant. I saw the control line and left the room but he hung on and called me back saying, "Think I've got something to tell you" and that was it.
