Grobag/Sleep bag confusion

OK, so I love the idea of these and will be using them. Amongst my many other confusions with them (pregnancy seems to make me overthink) is this...

Can newborns use them?

The grobag website and most retailers have a 0-3mths or 0-6mths catagory, so I'd assume so, but the general feel from users is they didn't use them for the first 4-12wks???

What have people done, and if not used before a certian time, why?

I've just bought some from morrisons, only £9 and the designs are sooo cute Smile

My DD is ten weeks and up until now we swaddled, but she prefers her arms to be free

Thanks for the tips on swaddle blankets. My friend just used her own fleece sheet which was slightly stretchy and seemed to do the job but I've got a bit of a mental block about how to do it, how many layers you've got, if it's the right fabric.

Daft I know, but like all things you're not sure about, it can seem really difficult at first! :)

I started out with cellular blankets in moses basket per recommendations, which turned out to be a collosal waste of money (cellular blankets just play on naieve mum to be anxiety, not warm, not cosy, not pretty, please dont go out and buy a millon of them like i did!). we put him in a swaddle thingie (just search on amazon, they are about a tenner) from a few weeks and it did help, but not a magic cure. started him in sleeping bags about 6 weeks i think but in retrospect would have done sooner. i would REALLY recommend ebay for these - especially if you dont fuss over having 'THE' grobag. I picked one up last week which was from M&S, barely used, far nicer than the ones i got from mothercare, and cost 99p plus £2.50 postage....and will go back on there for bigger sized ones. heres a GIANT shout out to ebay for baby stuff!

DS2's whole newborn supplies (that weren't handed down from his big bro) and most of my maternity wear were ebay!! I'm now also in love with NCT sales but they only seem to run once a pregnancy in my area. (Well twice but I couldn't go to the first one as I would have "outed" myself as being preg!) Preloved rules!!!

both my DSs were big enough for sleeping bags from day 1, thankfully. I'd have bought a couple of swaddle blankets, just so I knew they were on securely. BUT tbh I think swaddling may not be the best option if you plan to go onto sleeping bags quickly, as they are loose fitting. i.e. if thwe baby gets used to being swaddled tight, it might not take kindly to you changing that, iyswim.
Hopefully they all work out for you, cos they are so great - no stress, no worry, and you can put the baby anywhere in the cot!
