Without getting heartburn. I am 22 weeks pregnant, and the indegestion is starting to get quite bad. The last few nights I have woken up with it. I have had to take rennies/gaviscon only for it to come back in a few hours.

I took some gaviscon at 12.00pm, have just had piece of toast and a drink of apple juice, and the heart burn has returned.

I know there have been threads on this in the past, but what are the home remedies. I cant believe I have 18 more weeks of this.

Ice cold milk through a straw!

Avoid toast, tinned tomatoes, orange juice, (sometimes) apple juice, pastry like the plague, spices, bacon, very greasy foods, and mueslie. These are all triggers for me!

Also, try to eat the bulk of your food before 6 pm, because if you wake up hungry in the night, you will 6have^ to eat, this will cause heartburn etc and general misery. Ibn fact i find if I wake up hungry a big glass of milk will generally sort it out enough to sleep.

And keep Rennies under your pillow, and when you have finished chewing it, wash it down with half a pint of cold water.

The problem is I hate milk. Might be able to manage warm milk with Horlicks though.

horlicks is good, full of vitamins.

Also, have you tasted milk since becoming pregnant? You may find you have really changed your mind about it, I have about cereal!

chewing on almonds gets rid of heartburn

coribells · 31/12/2005 19:42

I just saw that on the link. I have some almonds, might go get one now, as dinner is starting repeat on me.

Aw, Cori, much sympathy - I had appalling heartburn with DS and have had some (though not quite as bad) with this one too. Horlicks helps (but I can't drink it because of the sugar in it - have one for me tonight, eh?)

In that case I shall live dangerously and have a double. It is New Years eve after all.

aw cori sympathy from me too. I hate the taste of milk and managed my pint-a-day during pregnancy by drinking it with rose syrup (available from asian and middle-eastern grocery stores) - maybe worth trying?

Cheers then, Cori!

Ranitidine , the only thing that worked with me. Gaviscon do a tablet version of it. I was precribed by my gp it was so bad , no milk or sleepong sitting up did it for me.
