brown blood at seven weeks - please help!

I had the same bleeding when I thought I was about to start my last period - turns out it was implantation, tho lasted 7 days. Nothing after that for a month.

On Weds I had a scan that showed I was 7 weeks; good heartbeat and size. I've had no pain, no sickness, just sore boobs and bloating.

Noticed brown blood with a touch of rusty maroon when I went to the loo this aft. A/E doc took blood pressure etc but said I'd have to come back for a scan on Monday.

Am sobbing and terrified and can't believe I have too wait three days to find out if I'm miscaerring. Does anyone here have any experience?

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I had a similar experience and it was truly horrible waiting for the scan.

In my case, I had small amounts of bleeding up until 16 weeks which was eventually diagnosed as a cervical ectropian or erosion. It was not at all serious but was terribly worrying for me.

Many women have bleeding in early pregnancy and go on to have healthy pregnancies. The fact that you had a positive scan so recently is a very good sign.

Thanks so much for replying, FullBeam. I've been reading through old threads and it seems to be 50/50 between women who have gone on to MC and ones who have had bleeding throughout with a healthy baby at the end of it. I'd love to think that because the scan showed a healthy pregnancy it will all be fine, but I also know that things can change in the blink of an eye for no obvious reason. I had quite a vigorous ballet class this morning, and now am worrying that that might have caused this...

DH is pushing for us to get a private scan done tomorrow, to put us out of our misery. I wonder if any other MNers have gone this route?

i had bleeding up to about 8 weeks with first 2 pregnancies - had private scans with both for reassurance that all was well after being refused by NHS. i do remember them saying that brown blood was less likely to be a problem than red blood, and that if there is no pain it's probably ok. in both cases it was fine. good luck.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/11/2011 19:59

I had the same thing at the same time- brown blood, and a fair bit- when I'd been to the loo. Tissue and in bowl (apols TMI).

Scared the ever-living daylights out of me, especially as I'd had some really sharp pains before. We spoke to the MW and went to the hospital where they checked me out- doctor checked my cervix, and then sent me home for a scan a couple of days later. At least that way I knew that as my cervix was closed, I had a good chance.

It sounds horrible having to wait, and although I think that you'll probably be fine from the sound of it, I'd go for a scan to put your mind at rest.

Hope it all works out for you, good luck.

I had brown bleeds a few times in my pregnancy and it was ok... have a 9 wk old boy downstairs atm.

ChateauMargot · 04/11/2011 20:17

Thank you so much for all your feedback - it's really helping me to feel a bit more level-headed about it all. Fingers crossed we can get a scan tomorrow, and that it's good news if so...

I had the same thing at seven weeks - turned out to be old blood from the implantation bleed. My theory (completely unscientific of course) is that I 'dislodged' it when I energetically climbed up a large bank of theatre seats. Hmm. The bleeding came on that night so maybe your ballet class has had the same effect?

zippy539 · 04/11/2011 20:23

Here's the link http:www.channel4.com/programmes/river-cottage/4od but just noticed it wasn't mash but polenta so more of a faff than you need but might be worth looking at for future ref - looks delish!

zippy539 · 04/11/2011 20:25

Oh God - so sorry - posting on two threads at one. Forget the polenta and try and arrange another scan!! Blush

ChateauMargot · 04/11/2011 20:32

zippy, that has given me a much-needed laugh!

Glad to be of (albeit embarrassing) service :) . It was in answer to a request for veggie Christmas dinners should you be in need of one. My mortification aside do keep us posted and really hoping that all is well.

welliesandpyjamas · 04/11/2011 20:56

You sound like me a couple of months ago. I would suggest going for the private scan for peace of mind. Late implantation bleed is a possibility but unfortunately it could just as easily be the start of something horrid. It's very very difficult but only time will tell, I'm afraid.

You're right about the 50/50. It's exactly what my GP told me (in a nice way). I hope that you will be one of the lucky half :)

ChateauMargot · 04/11/2011 21:22

thanks, wellies - I hope that it was a positive result for you?..

Thinking of you today and hoping you have reassuring news if you go for the private scan.

Sparklingbrook · 05/11/2011 10:07

Another one here that had this on and off in both pregnancies and all turned out ok.

ChateauMargot · 05/11/2011 12:40

Went for a private scan this morning and all seems to be fine! Heartrate at 137, no obvious problems or anomalies discovered. The bleeding has taperedd off, though still brown when I wipe. The ultrasound clinic staff were lovely, and it was DH's first chance to see the heartbeat, so defo worth the price tag.

Thanks so much again for all your support :)

Good news. I've been there and remember punching the air with joy!
Best £100 I ever spent.

NorthernChinchilla · 05/11/2011 19:29

Oooh, so pleased. Hope you don't have too much worry over the next few weeks til the 12 week scan.

Take care!

banana87 · 05/11/2011 21:35

I had this with DD1. Also a few days after a scan. I was always convinced it was because the scan was internal but I doubt that now. Anyway, it carried on and off until about 15 weeks but obviously everything was fine! I'd suggest another scan in 2 weeks unless things get heavier in that time.

ChateauMargot · 06/11/2011 14:09

Thanks, ladies. Think I'll still go in for my hospital scan tomorrow, just to be sure (for peace of mind more than anything!). Every day closer to 12 weeks feels like something to celebrate right now...
