Hi I am due to have one tomorrow I am 24 weeks (3rd baby) will it make me really ill? other than a sore arm which is fine. Will this make me ill? I have a wedding to go to next week and a physio appointment amongst other things. Is it worth having? help!!!

I had it last winter at around 26 weeks and had no ill effects at all. My friend who was not pregnant had it the same day and had a sore arm. How do you normally react to injections? I'm normally fine and was with this.

Koop · 03/11/2011 18:05

I had it about 3 weeks ago at 30 weeks. No problems whatsoever.

I had it at 31 weeks no sore arm no side effects whatsoever

Crosshair · 03/11/2011 18:27

Had mine on Tuesday(31 weeks) feel fine, bruised arm.

MrBloomsNursery · 03/11/2011 18:30

I had it at 26 weeks. No problem at all. Not even a sore arm.

Starshaped · 03/11/2011 18:30

I had mine when I was pregnant last year and had absolutely no side effects. No sore arm, no illness, nothing.

I wouldn't even consider not having it.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 03/11/2011 18:32

No problem with mine, got it two days ago. Not even had a bad arm. It isn't a live vaccine, so they dont inject the virus into you.

MrsHuxtable · 03/11/2011 18:33

I had mine 2 days ago, I was reluctant. I was fine. Arm wasn't even sore and I didn't feel the needle go in. In fact, I'm wondering now if the doctor faked it...

porpentine · 03/11/2011 18:59

I'm 37 weeks and had mine on Friday, sore arm for a couple of days and now I've come down with a cold which I assume is related. I would still have it again though.

Fresh01 · 03/11/2011 20:05

I had it about a month ago at around 30 weeks. They asked which arm I write with and I said left so she said ok then you get the injection in your right. Forgot as a SAHM I don't write huge amounts a day but I do carry 21 month old DS a lot with my right arm!! So had a dead arm feeling for about 8 hours. Apart from that felt fine.

Agree with PP it is a fine needle and you barely feel it. The anti-D jab I had 2 weeks later was much more painful.

Thumbelina79 · 03/11/2011 20:24

had it yesterday at 15.6 - sore arm is all

emblosion · 03/11/2011 20:33

I had mine last week, am 7 weeks. I didn't feel it, arm felt a bit bruised afterwards, but that's it. X

blueskydrinking · 03/11/2011 20:34

Hmm I've been wondering about this, haven't had it yet but starting to think I should.

Does it matter when you have the jab - most of you seem to have had it later on in your pregnancy?

IslandIsla · 03/11/2011 21:35

I had mine at 17 weeks (a month ago). I did have a low fever and felt rough for about 24 hours (started 6 hours after the jab, fever lasted about 12 hours). However my experience is certainly not the norm!

SausageSmuggler · 03/11/2011 21:37

I'm 19 weeks and had mine the other day, I had a sore arm for about 24 hours but been fine otherwise.

mosschops30 · 03/11/2011 21:41

Its not a live vaccine so will not give you flu. Symptoms will be a sore arm, or mild fever.

Please please have it, i work in intensive care and saw some very sad cases last year relating to flu.
I had it when pg, have it every year and paid private for the dcs to have this year.
I want my family well protected

roseum · 03/11/2011 21:41

blueskydrinking I don't think it matters when you have it - though maybe the risks of getting flu are greater when you are more heavily pregnant? So they target those of us closer to due date first for it when the jabs start?

Anyway, I had mine three weeks ago (at about 25wks), arm a bit sore but otherwise fine (had it done in right arm as I sleep on my left side - advice I read here on mumsnet - glad I did as it was a bit sore the first night).

mosschops30 · 03/11/2011 21:41

The flu jab, not the actual flu!

PootlePosyPumpkin · 03/11/2011 21:41

I had one in February at about 7 weeks. I had no ill effects at all, not even a sore arm especially. It's definitely worth having IMO.

Crosshair · 03/11/2011 22:39

I had mine so late as no one mentioned it. A thread on here made me think to ask and get it sorted out. Blush

Pastabee · 03/11/2011 23:17

No after effects at all for me.

cravingyorkiebar · 04/11/2011 00:42

I had mine at 17 weeks, no side effects at all.

You are much more likely to catch flu when pregnant and to have more complications so well worth having.

cravingyorkiebar · 04/11/2011 00:59

flu jab well worth having not the flu... time for bed...!

CGall · 04/11/2011 10:09

I had mine a week ago, 18 weeks. I had sore arm for a few days, particularly sore when dh bumped into me messing about!!!! I got it in my right arm so i could sleep on my left side, but noticed then because im right handed I couldnt put as much effort into using my right arm for 2 or 3 days.

Totally fine now, dont seem to have any side effects or any sign of a cold. touch wood.
