Am 27 weeks and seem to have hit a brick wall of tiredness! I am sleeping okish but get in every eve and six and have to go to bed! I can't concentrate at work and have felt a bit faint and lightheaded a couple if times. I don't know if this is normal and I am just bring a wuss or should I go and see GP. spending 2.5hrs a day commuting doesn't help. Am seeing MW next week anyway but starting to feel hysterical!!

Hi Emy, I'm no expert, but it sounds like you might have low iron levels. Probably best to get it checked out by the GP.

Agree with PP that it would be worth a blood test to get your iron checked. I am over 32 weeks and a routine blood test at 30 weeks showed up I was low in iron. I thought I was just tired as I have 3 other kids under 6! I requested liquid iron as I have had tablet iron before after delivery and it causes constipation...........

I had the faint/light headed feeling for the first time earlier on in this pregnancy for the first time. My GP said it was because of low blood pressure as the blood was taking too long to return from my feet to my heart. So I had about 6 weeks of wearing support socks/tights from the chemist/Boots until that stage passed.

Thanks I was wondering about iron levels. Think I will make GP appointment for later on even if its just to reassure me!!
It is also hard cos no-one at work really understands. Mostly men or women who havent had kids yet. I say I feel tired but its hard to get people to understand how bone achingly tired I mean and that I am not just slacking!!

Popping by to say me too re tiredness. No idea if it's normal but it is annoying.

I was so tired in pregnancy, and can sympathise with the going to bed as soon as you get in situation. From about 30 weeks I used to go for a 30 sleep at some point in the day, then have a 30 min lunch break with another snooze. I found that splitting the hour lunch Luke that really helped with the long day (also had long commute of 2 hours each way).

If I passed out when I got home, it was DHs job to make dinner and bring it to me in bed - despite being tired, you need to eat. Otherwise your iron levels will get even lower and you'll get even more tired.

Could you talk to work about splitting your lunch break in two? It's in their interests to accommodate you, as if you keep getting more tired you'll be off sick. Better to have you there and accommodate two shorter breaks than have you off sick ...
