I am 38 weeks tomorrow, I am getting up twice an hour, every hour for a wee as I have really strong braxton hicks. It is driving me INSANE!

I swear I'd sleep better with the baby here!

Does anyone else have the same problem? X

Yep, was up for about an hour in the night with braxton hicks thinking hmm at what point should i wake DH way they stopped and i fell back to sleep, bloody shattered now.

Lozzer79 · 31/10/2011 08:41

The thing is I have had this problem for weeks! It's mental. I just want to get the baby out I've tried everything too. X

Yep i here you, there is a recent thread about latent labour somewhere, it's a pain. I'm a veteran now having got to almost 42 weeks with my other 2 but started showing signs much earlier, both times the MW have told me i'd have an early baby, they lied. I've already had a show and everything and i'm only 35 +4 weeks. You are at least close to your due date, i'm sure its natures way of preparing you for life with a new baby, evil nature.

Lozzer79 · 31/10/2011 09:06

I hope so! You get to the stage when you feel it's going to come soon, then it doesn't, then you think is it ever going to come!!!!

I started a thread on latent labour a few days ago if u want 2 join in!!? Baby no.4 and last baby and this have had latent labour phase lasting wks and wks, this time with just about EVERY sign that labour will be v soon grr..! Was up again for 2hrs in the nt with painful contractions lasting 0ver a minute, every 11mins that have now died off to random tightenings every so often! I soooo feel your pain! (I too am 38wks tomorrow :)) I would be more than happy to go to due date as obviously best for baby, just wish my bod would cut out all the "signs" until it's ready to mean business! Angry

BedatHogwarts · 31/10/2011 09:59

I'm 41 weeks and was woken several times last night with a rock hard top of bump that lasted at least 10 minutes (although seemed like hours). I just wish the contractions were the other end so at least they might be doing something. I'd quite like a Halloween baby!!

mumt1 · 31/10/2011 11:28

Did any of you suffer from BH early on? I'm 14+5 with second pregnancy and keep getting really bad pains, like period pains but worse and belly goes hard. They're not constant, come and go, but when theyre at their worst I can't even stand up, I'm doubled over in agony. Have to stay still in a ball till it goes!

twogirls1more · 31/10/2011 12:05

I would go get that checked out mumt1. I wouldn't have thought you should be getting recognisable BH so early on and they shouldn't be painful at 14wks. I would think it's probably ligament pain, (your ligaments stretching as you grow,) as that can be common around that time and can be v painful for a while, (mine was like a really bad stitch on either or both sides.) Either that or bowel related? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Aches, pains and little twinges all too common in pregnancy! :(

mumt1 · 31/10/2011 12:25

Thankyou, been checked all seems ok, although not had internal it is a lot worse when I need a wee, have been tested for uti twice and both are clear. It does feel like tightenings. Gt midwife next week so will see how I go until then x

pinkpeony · 31/10/2011 12:50

Lozzer I had the same as you - around 38 wks BH were constant and becoming unbearable as so uncomfortable. When I saw consultant at 38 wks, he told me it's not a sign of anything starting imminently and could go on for weeks. My waters broke at 38+1 and DC2 born 4 hours later :)
At the time, I was told BH could get worse with dehydration so make sure you're drinking plenty of water, and that calcium & magnesium supplements might help. With me though it just meant baby's arrival was imminent :) Hopefully will be the case for you too!

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 31/10/2011 12:58

I had this with DC5. Drove me bonkers.

It got to the point where I was really unsure that I would know when I was in labour. I didnt believe I was until I was well on the way because I was so confused by that point Grin

Try and sleep in the daytime when you can. Sleep ANYTIME you can.

Soon be over x

newyearsday · 03/11/2011 21:55

Lozzer you have my sympathy, I had it too for weeks before labour started. Regular, strong BHs for hours on end, day or night. At night I'd get up and have a hot drink and a snack, some paracetamol, hot water bottle or bath, and wonder "maybe this is it?". A few hours later it'd tail off and I'd go back to bed! I was on maternity leave by then so if I had a bad night I napped in the day. I ended up having a sweep at 41+3 and labour started four hours later. Your body is gearing up for labour, hope you don't have too long to wait xx

pregnantmimi · 04/11/2011 01:01

yes when people say make the most of the time to sleep now before baby here I think what sleep?

TerrysNo2 · 04/11/2011 05:07

Just wanted to say hello at 5am - its my EDD today and same problem. Its bloody annoying isn't it!

lollystix · 04/11/2011 05:15

Morning Terrys - good luck. Congrats on getting to EDD - all uphill from now. Assume from BH it may not be your first?

Im sitting here feeding ds4 who is 3 weeks. Forgot how knackering this newborn stuff is.

I'm excited - going to be an auntie today-DB and SIL have their daughter by ELCS today.
