I would be grateful if some of you share with me your tips for covering up pregnancy from friends a co-workers. Ideally I would not admit it until I am 4-5 months.

Cardigans, and sitting at your desk a lot/ holding a notepad when you do have to wander around.

I am 19 weeks today and nobody has guessed (aside from a friend who put 2 + 2 together when I stopped drinking coffee).

People are really much less observant than you think they will be!

I'm 20 weeks, a slim size 12 and not one person has guessed that hasn't been otld. I was out with a very loudmouthed aquaintance today who would have said something if she'd realised. I think layers, and just don't stray too far away from your regular style. Maternity clothes can scream pregnancy (obviously...), as can a sudden change in eating or drinking habits. It can be luck of the draw though. I'm lucky not to have put on a lot of weight, and to have no colleagues to hide the morning sickness from.

I think to some extent it might be down to luck, but like fuck says keep to your same style, etc. You are buggered if you suddenly change eating drinking habits because you can't stand the taste/smell of stuff. At 6 months I barely had a bump, but was puking like a good 'un constantly [hmmm]

One too many m's in there obviously!

I kept mine hidden from work until 5 months in - whenever I had to get up from my desk and go round the office I always made sure I was carrying something in front of me and moved very fast!
I also wore lots of tunic tops/long shirts/loose t-shirts that just look like you like wearing baggy clothes - as long as you keep the bottom half tight people just think it's your 'look'.

Xmasbaby11 · 30/10/2011 19:01

The only thing I can think of is loose clothes. It's more your bahaviour that can be difficult to hide - eg nausea at smells, changes in eating/drinking habits etc that people may notice.

You may well be fine anyway - I wasn't showing til 20 weeks, but told work at 8 weeks due to morning sickness and other problems which meant I was going to the doctors a lot.

First stranger to "guess" was at 21 weeks. best mate knew (guessed) from the way I was talking on the phone at 8 weeks. Told majority of work at 14 weeks and they were all surprised (had told my closest colleagues in senior managment team at about 8 weeks but none of the more junior staff knew). loose stuff may help and waterfall cardies are ideal. may be luck though - good mate is 22 weeks and even in skin tight stuff you can't tell, some people have ahuge bump very early

My work always have the aircon on so low that I usually (even pre-pregnancy) wear loads of big fleeces at work or I get cold - any chance you can bundle up in warm layers now the weather is getting colder (or one thin but large fleece and say you are cold?). No-one at my work guessed (apart from two people who noticed I was (subconsciously) rubbing my stomach in a meeting - so don't do that! (the two who noticed didn't let on :-) )).

my friend hid her pg from everyone for 6 months (she was 17 at the time) she done it by being constantly seen eating and had crisps / choc on her desk constantly so everyone thought she was getting fat. Every now n them she'd say im joining weight watchers then say ive not got round to it. Looking back i don't know how i believed it but everyone did she even got a few no wonder she's gettin fat she's always stuffing her face comments behind her back.
