I just said "You're going to have a baby brother or sister after christmas". Simples!

Would you like a kid's perspective? I think that my story might be of some interest to you, not as a second time mum to be (I'm actually going to have my first) but as my little 8 year old self.
I remember going several times to the hospital with my parent, the tension in the air, seeing the worried look on my mum's face. Only years later I was told that it was due to the fact that my step dad has thalassaemia and no one knew if my mum had it or not and her doctor was really harsh on them, saying that it was irresponsible to have a kid without knowing this (my sister was a total accident). I might not have known what was happening but, I sensed that something was definitely different, has your DD noticed anything? Been looking at you in a different way?
After they got the results and the air cleared (by then she was 3 months pregnant), my mum sat me down and simply told me that I was going to be a big sister and explained about the responsibilities of being in "charge" of a little sibling. I was ecstatic, I really felt lonely as an only child and had really really wished for a little brother or sister.
Hope that this helps!
