HypnoBirthing? Bull***t or beneficial?

Has anyone tried it? I am a natural born sceptic when it comes to these things, and I know there isn't exactly a wealth of peer reviewed studies supporting the benefits of hypnobirthing. However, I am curious nonetheless.

Hope you enjoy the hypnobirthing!

If you're worried about freaking out - I would really recommend (again! I have recced it all ove rthe place) Juju Sundin's Brith Skills book. I DID freak out in my first labour and had to have pethidine to calm me down - which is fine, but not an option where I now live, and was obviously very stressful at the time. That book has made me think so differently about my second labour, and I'm actually looking forward to it!

I was relatively skeptical...didn't do it for DD1, did with DD2 as it couldn't hurt!

DD1's birth, left alone by mws for four hours, told I shouldn't push but not why. Result being that she was born with an agpar of 0 and taken for 45mins of resuscitation. PND and bonding issues.

DD2's birth, she was brow presentation, and felt like 'hard work' to push out, but I had a totally painless birth. I was laughing in between contractions and kissing DP lots.
