Lactose intolerance in pregnancy?

I seem to remember someone here being lactose intolerant whilst pregnant. Can't find anything when I searched, but I am sure I remember someone saying it. After lying awake with stomach cramps last night and losing my cereal this morning again, I wanted to know more about it. Doesn't seem to be much on the net.

Haha, I am in Oz!!!! Will def give it a try, thanks. I have felt so rotten today, I have decided to give up dairy completely for a week or so and see how I go. The horrible heat isn't doing much to make me feel better!

Me me me!

It seems to be more milk intolerance than lactose for me (does that make sense??? I can still eat cheese etc, it is just milk and cream that sets me off).

The best solution I found was just to cut it out completely to start with, and then you can reintroduce it in very small amounts (a bowl of cereal every couple of days plus one cup of tea a day etc). I have overdone it over Christmas, and am sat here with a thumping head, and probably about to lose my breakfast in a minute Its my own fault though, so can't whinge really!! Its a bit like drinking too much, and I think of it as a milk hangover .

I have no willpower, and pregnancy seems to make me want to drink more milk than ever.

I like the taste of normal milk too much to go for the alternatives . Oooh, Soya icecream is lovely though.

Oooh, will have to go on a hunt then!!! I'm assuming that its not available here - my friend has 3 lactose intolerant children, one severe, and I would have thought her consultant would have mentioned it by now.

I thought I was nuts by being able to eat cheese etc still - makes sense now. I was starting to wonder if the enzymes were altered somehow in the production, making it easier to digest... less lactose would make much more sense though

Thanks for that. Will give it a go. The heat is bloody awful - will be 40 degrees on Monday. Sob.
