Hiya iv got an opportunity to go to Delhi over Christmas but will be five months pregnant.
Just wondering what the injection situation is, would I be able to fly, would I need any extra insurance and do you think I'd be putting myself / baby at any risk?

Any travelling tips appreciated.

Thanks x

Definitely check with the insurers. My AMEX travel insurance refused to cover the dd's stay in NICU. It was our private health insurer who finally picked up the cost (Dutch company expat health cover). 19 days + 2 ops cost them 50K GBP.

Hi,
I have just got back from a 2 week trip through India (which included Delhi) and I am now 16+4 weeks so was around 14/15 weeks at the time.
I had been to Delhi once before and loved it so kind of knew what to expect and what precautions to take to not become ill etc. I did however manage to get an ear infection which involved a trip to the doctor for antibiotics which was a bit stressful.
I went ahead with the trip because I booked it before I got pregnant and I was going with some friends and thought it would be the last opportunity I would get to do something like this.
I wasnt recommended anti-malarials but I was supposed to have a Typhoid vacc which I refused because they have never tested it on pregnant women and I thought it fairly unlikely i would get Typhoid in the areas we were visiting.
I would honestly say though that I found the whole trip extremely stressful. I am fine now and i've just had a check up and all is well with the baby but if I hadnt already booked the trip I wouldnt go. You will be constantly paranoid about getting sick, having a road traffic accident, getting caught up in a crazy crowd, getting too hot etc etc like I was so it probably won't be that enjoyable.
Obviously a personal choice but I would say if you have the option then don't do it!
