Pain from transverse baby

Hi ladies,

Just want to see if anyone else is in the same situation and has any tips for me? For the last two weeks I have been experiencing terrible back pain, had my midwife appointment yesterday and she's told me that baby is transverse (lying across my tummy). She's said she's not worried about birth at the moment because the baby's got plenty of time to move, but she's also said that the pain in my back wont stop until baby moves because he/she is pressing down on a nerve...

Anyone got any tips and advice on how to ease the pain while the baby is in this position, but also how to make it move into a better position?

Meant to add, I've also been told I'm 'all baby with not much fluid' does anyone know if that means it'll be harder for baby to turn?

Ds was transverse and this baby is an oblique breech, I'm 34 weeks and have the most awful back pain. There are some yoga poses that really help at the moment I am propped up on pillows bum in air leaning Over the arm of the sofa and it is really helping, undignified though.

ooh I had that and it hurts! One time I went to a pg exercise class (lots of bouncing round on fit balls) and that helped shift it - just bounce around and wiggle about - it might help?

My LO's mostly transverse and causing backpain and lower abdo pain @ 27wks. Pilates, birthing ball bouncing, swimming have all been recommended, and someone recommended this technique though have not tried it yet...let us know if you find anythign that works!

Oh God, yes awful, awful pain! So sorry for you. I couldn't lie down, couldn't sit up, couldn't stand, couldn't wall. you get the picture. It was too late for me but apparently there are exercises that can help move the baby around. Also chiropractor helped me loads with back pain due to pregnancy although it wad before the breech.

Thanks ladies... sounds like we're all in or have been in the same boat... it's rubbish isn't it!? Been sitting on the birthing ball most of the evening and have been for a swim, so sounds like I'm doing all the right things. I'm 28 weeks at the mo and really want to get it moving, I don't want it to get comfy there and stay for the long haul!

Will let you all know if I get some success and do let me know if anything works for you too!

Oeisha - I'm going to try that! I do weekly yoga classes and my instructors told me to do lots of downward dogs (which look like a similar thing). Anything's worth a try!

I'm 36 weeks and baby is transverse. I've tried everything to get it to move but its just too comfy there! I've started seeing a specialist chiropractor to see if she can assist in relaxing muscles and giving baby as much room as possible to move. I have scan on Monday to find out what is going on, if baby stays this way (which I feel is likely) then baby will be coming out of the sunroof!

Hope your back is feeling better soon :)
