Nappy cream?!

A new thing that I'm obessing over - nappy creams! Which one would t mummy's recommend - johnsons, bepanthan, sudocrem??

Sorry - it's prob not something worth even spending this long thinking abt - but I'm indulging my OCD baby brain!!

I liked the weleda calendula cream. Seemed to work well. You might not need it anyway? I think sudocrem is good too and you get a mini pot of it in your hospital bounty pack which lasts ages!

The one I bought after A LOT of research (have been off sick for months now) is the Neal's Yard one.
Also read very good things about the Weleda one.

Bepanthen is good. I never used it prophylactically, only when they actually had a bit of a rash - so one tube lasted me for about 5 years and two children.

I only ever used it if they had bad nappy rash - Metanium was great for dealing with that. But that's really only maybe a dozen uses per child in all the days of nappies.

Bepanthen for me. But I didn't need it for MONTHS so I don't think you need fret! DD had no nappy rash at first and only very occasionally has it now. I don't apply cream every day, only when needed.

I second Neal's Yard Remedies - I used it for both DCs. But I only started using it once they were at least 2 months and started going for longer at night between feeds and not changing wet nappies until the morning. One of my DCs only got spot of nappy rash once, and then I used Bepanthen for a few days until it went away.

I used sudocreme mainly, if that didn't work then metanium.

I only used it if he had a red bum though!

Same as pootle- metanium cleared up any outbreaks.

Kamillisan was good in the early days when I thought I needed it at every change (which you dont)

Another vote for metanium. It works like magic
We only use it when DS has nappy rash, when he's teething.

Burts bees. Mostly for the smell, we've never had any serious nappy rash though and only use it if she looks a bit tender.

The yellow one metatanium (sp?) but you'll only need it for nappy rash which I don't think they get early on?!

Plain old zinc and castor oil. Cheap and cheerful!

I think it's all about prevention. I would just buy the cheapest tub of zinc cream from Boots and use it even when you don't need to as a means of preventing nappy rash. I got a big tub for about £2 when DD was born and we're still on it, seven months later.

Sudocreme if you are buying in advance. Some babies never get nappy rash. DS only ever had bit of a pink bum a few times and a bit of Sudocreme sorted it out very quickly.
It has a millon other uses too, very good for scrapes and rashes, and spots!

Sudocreme for daily use and then metanium cream when he was teething and had bad nappy rash - He is 2.3 now and gets ecsma (sp) on his bum cheeks so I use the cream the doc gave us - But he has a peachy bum which I put down to constant use of sudocreme.

I would say whatever you use make sure you buy about 4 tubs of it, bag, bedroom, nappy box and spare - Bloody sudocreme costs a bomb, we are nappy training this week and I look forward to not having to shell out £6 for a tub of cream! As has already been mentioned prevention is definitely the best thing - I used it at every nappy change and he only ever got sore when he was teething and even that was minimal!

So a bit of a mixed bag - but I think I might go for a tube of sudocrem, and pleased to hear that you get a mini pot in t bounty pack!!
Metanium is clearly popular choice so will check that out too..also t burts bees - always nice to have a nice smelling cream!!

Love t tip about having 4 pots - that's right up my organised street!
