Hydrophrenotic kidney with calyceal involvement and slightly dilated ureter

Had a scan today after concerns about excessive fetal movement. All well, but a dilated kidney (mild hydrophrenosis) was detected (I'm 37 weeks tomorrow) in the right kidney. Left kidney appeared normal.
I am sadly quite an expert with this as both dd1 and dd3 had this detected antenatally (20 week scan). However, neither of them had the 'calyceal involvement' not the 'dilated ureter' and I was wonderng if anyone else knew the significance of these added extras? I'm not massively worried, but would like to be a bit more informed before the follow-up consultant scan next week. Many thanks!

They should have explained what it might mean at the scan. Give MW a ring and see what they say. They should be able to give you some more information in prep for your consultant.

Thanks Oeisha. Not much was said really, other than he (the baby) might be put on prophelactic ABs when born, in case of a urine infection and any resulting scarring due to the reflux.
