Asked the baby's sex - what do you think?

Sorry for the stupid title and anon but we decided to ask the gender of our baby at 20 week scan but aren't telling anyone so I can't post in my real name in case anyone I know reads this!

Basically the lady doing the scan said she thought there 'looked to be a bit too much there to be labia' and so said she thought boy. She said that 'although the labia can be swollen at this stage it was more likely to be scrotum'. The angle of the baby was such that we didn't get to see the 'bits' in full and this was her indication on what we could see.

So ladies, based on this would you accept it's a blue bundle or has anyone heard this and then got pink? I'm not bothered either way but just thought it may be a bit clearer if you know what I mean and so don't know how convinced to be! Don't want to name 'him' and buy loads of stuff if this doesn't sound convincing.

Many thanks

I think you're either having a boy or a girl. Definitely.

thecattleareALOHing · 19/12/2005 22:01

Yes, almost certainly a boy. Or girl.

bauble99 · 19/12/2005 22:02

Or maybe a baby?

feastofsteven · 19/12/2005 22:02

don't think you've got enough info to decide one way or another. but girls will be fine in blue jeans etc if you do decide to buy boy clothes, whereas boys will have a tougher time in girl clothes!!!

ChristmasFairyAnon · 19/12/2005 22:02

Thanks ChunkerXmasCake, you've cleared that up for me! To be honest I wish I'd never bloody asked at the scan - would've been OK if we'd seen the full meat and 2 veg!!!

Definitely a girly boy.

Or a boyly girl.

bauble99 · 19/12/2005 22:03

I would go for yellow.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2005 22:03

I think it's a baby.

Seriously though, if they say "boy" they are more usually right than if they say "girl" although the only way to be really sure is to ave a look when the baby is born, at a clear shot between its legs at a 37 week growth scan of via CVS (or is it amnio?). I think you still have to be prepared for either sex even if you're told one or the other.

Feistybird · 19/12/2005 22:03

Yes, a baby, of either sex - I'm sure of it.

Katemum · 19/12/2005 22:03

mmmmm, definately one or the other. HTH.

followthestarlover · 19/12/2005 22:03

haha... i've known people who are "definitely" expecting a girl then get a boy... and vice versa!

so i wouldn't place your bets on having a boy based on that!

looks like you're in for a surprise!

Hmmmm, I wouldn't go mad buying blue at this stage!

spruceylucy5 · 19/12/2005 22:05

My cousin was told she was having a boy and then she had a girl! So you never know, it was picked up on a later scan I think.

Rudolphthebluenosedteddy · 19/12/2005 22:07

Someone my sister works with was told she was having a girl & had a boy!

OhlittletownofEIDSVOLD · 20/12/2005 03:45

I would just get some colours that would go for both and then when the babe is born buy your girly or boy clothes....

IsawPussycatmommakissingsanta · 20/12/2005 03:50

you cant go wrong with lovely crisp fresh non-gender specific white!! im sure it will be a baby in there, although a woman at work thought she may have given birth to a small litter of kittens....
