Maternity pyjamas

Hi,

Just wondered if anywhere could suggest anywhere that does good maternity pyjamas?

I've seen lots on the usual maternity clothes websites but they always seem to be 'nursing / maternity' ones which feature a camisole style top.

I have 2 problems with that style: 1 - I have huge boobs so have never been comfy in camisole style pjs, and 2 - as I'll be preggers all over the winter I want something nice an warm and cosy.

I have to confess to often going for 'proper' button up full on pjs in the winter (lucky DH eh? Blush but can't seem to see any maternity versions of this sort of thing?

So anyone seen any comfy warm winter maternity pjs?

Thanks

Sorry, meant has anyone seen, not anywhere! Stupid iPad wouldn't let me look back over the post to correct typos!

How pregnant will you be? I only ask because since about 28 weeks I have been far too hot to wear anything in bed at all, the thought of full-on pajamas leaves me feeling really claustrophic when I am too hot.

I have some lovely bottoms from Asda that I bought especially for hospital (not sure if they allow you to be nude all the time post birth!) very thin jersey type with a rollover top. I'm 34G (pre-preg) so I feel you on the cami tops! However, this is all I will be wearing for the foreseeable, from experience I don't want to be flashing an entire boob when trying to feed my baby, and a little bit of tethering is needed rather than letting them swing free under a pj top!

Expensive for PJ's but www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+check-pyjama-top-in-pyjamas-and-nightwear+B4413

I found that I hated anything on my bump including elasticated waists in the third trimester though.

WishIwereAtTheWiesnProst · 30/09/2011 04:12

I would get some nice fleecy mens top and bottoms sets. The big shirts will leave you plenty of room and you dont need them to be fitted/maternity sizing if you are just wearing them to bed

Ah thank you - I'd not thought of men's pj's. And the jmb ones look nice too. I'm due late march so will be rotund right through the winter.

DS was born in sept so I was pg all over summer and it wasn't a problem. With the feeding I had nursing ones to start with but by winter reverted to flashing a whole boob in my comfy pjs (it was night time after all! Blush)

Thanks though - some great ideas there Smile

I got some fab PJ bottoms (over the bump) from M&S - they are the best and I tent to wear them with DH's old t-shirts. I've also been cursed blessed with massive knockers Hmm

hubbahubster · 30/09/2011 14:00

Primarni is your friend. I got some lounge pants from the PJ department for a fiver each with massive waistbands - very comfy over bump. And I mixed and matched with empire line nighties/tunics/wraps over the top. Cheap and cheerful plus good for breastfeeding later. And I too have titanically proportioned boobies.

hubbahubster · 30/09/2011 14:01

Plus nice enough to be seen in when visitors come over post birth ;)

scepticalexpat · 30/09/2011 15:07

I've been wearing my normal pyjama bottoms and only pulling them up to below the bump - then you just need a long top to cover the bump up! Two sets, where the bottoms were always quite loose, are still fine at 35 weeks.

IrmaLittleteapot · 30/09/2011 15:10

Just buy bigger sizes than normal. I bought bigger gap bottoms and stole borrowed dh's tshirts when I was pg.

Biscuitsandtea · 30/09/2011 16:04

Ah sadly I already tend to buy 16-18 pjs to accommodate my boobage so bigger ain't always an option Sad

I got a maternity shirt from maternity - like a big mans shirt, soft cotton with trousers to match. Look a bit bonkers in it, but so comfortable. Would accommodate big boobs too.

If you're willing to spend a bit, these are worth every penny:

www.mamasandpapas.com/product-nursing-pyjama-top/s0007780/type-s/

They are honestly the most comfy item of maternity clothing I possess. I bought a similar pair on my first pregnancy and they are still going strong - I change into them pretty much as soon as I get home from work. I also wore them for a fair while after I had DS as they were easy to breastfeed in.

Make sure to get the stretchy bottoms though, not the cotton ones.

Hi, have you tried this site for maternity pyjamas as it does a great range from all online retailers. Hope that helps. D x

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 03/10/2011 10:23

[[http://www.melbamaternity.co.uk/maternity-bundle-1184-0/maternity-bundle-1184-0.html This site] has a package for the hospital bag, which I think is just lovely, and has done me since about 30 weeks (now 34), and I can see me wearing all of it after the birth as well. There is virtually no choice, but I did also buy the matching dressing gown. I know its expensive, but I haven't really bought much maternity clothes, only being a size 6 to start with, I have mostly pinched t shirts and jumpers out of my mums wardrobe to keep me going! If you use the code GBABY10, you can get an additional 10% off, which justified it to me. All of the stuff is comfy... I should get a commission, I love this stuff so much!

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 03/10/2011 10:24

Sorry, link here

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 10:35

Ah Lizzy - you must be at the other end of the spectrum to me Blush. It must be hard though to find maternity clothes when you're so slim to start with?

It always seems as though the grass is greener for other people shopping wise doesn't it!

Good luck though for when your baby comes - not long to go now if you're 34 weeks! :)

I actually went through and sorted out my maternity stuff from DS over the weekend so have quite a lot of stuff generally but no winter pjs or jumpers etc. Have bought a coat as will be pg over the winter and on the look out for jumpers etc too (Plus of course my winter pjs).

Think I've decided to go with the JMB pjs - a tad expensive but they look comfy and overall you do spend a lot of time in your pjs! :)

I have some cheapo nighties from last time for in hospital (obviously overstocked last time as these still have the tags on) and at least 4,000 pairs of knickers (I think I was working on possibly needing to chuck them, like every day, and it wasn't as bad as I anticipated!) I seriously wonder though if I could have worn a new pair of knickers every day since having DS and he's just turned 3!!!

Anyway, thank you all so much for your suggestions. And I like that site that links to all the other maternity clothes sites - what a useful way to bring it all together!

Yes Biscuits, I am struggling a bit, my dad says I look like a cocktail stick which has swallowed a grape potato football beach ball space hopper!

Good luck with the PJ hunt Smile

kiki22 · 04/10/2011 11:42

i got fleecy ones for a fiver from primark also have huge boobs so don't walk around the house in a cami top as DP would keep walking into things!!

I'm usually a size 14 but got 16-18 the bottoms r stretchy so fit around my growing bump easily but dont fall down and the top is big enough to slip up and down easily... plus so comfy im tempted to wear then out!

OhBuggerandArse · 04/10/2011 11:47

I had those melba ones and they are really really nice, quite the nicest thing I bought for myself. But I have a warning - they say the pyjama top will do for breastfeeding, but actually if you pull the crossover top aside it gets all stretched and ruined. I'd kept them for once the baby was born, and wish I'd got more wear out of them before then. (still wearing the trousers with a variety of manky old t-shirts)

Biscuitsandtea · 04/10/2011 18:16

Kiki - Grin at your DH! I can just imagine my dh's colleagues would get suspicious if he kept going in with bruises from 'walking into things' Grin

Thank you! I've been going a bit crazy on the PJ hunt for my pregnant friend's Xmas wish. Graciescotland's tip seems to be the only proper button PJs out there.
