Is anyone going or been before? If so do you recommend it?

i can think of nothing worse. i haven't been but hate these marketing traps trying to sell you loads of stuff you don't need. god forbid you give anyone your details - you'll be on mailing lists for years to come. (i didn't even take bounty - I don't want that crap!)

I went to it in Manchester and loved it tbh. We bought a lot, but nothing we didn't need and got a few freebies on the way. My MIL and SIL came too so was actually a really nice day out. As long as you go knowing what you are looking for and are not the type to be handing money over non-stop then they are great. Most places have special prices e.g. 10% off etc so it's worth going if you still have a few things to get - I got bedding, bath, some bottles, a couple of pieces of clothing, dh treated me to a gorgeous chnging bag, and a cot mobile and some grobags.

From my v long winded post you will probably have gathered that I recommend it .

I'd head to your local NCT sale to pick up the bits you need instead tbh.

Went to the Manchester one. Awful. Save your money.

I'm hoping to go this October as I will be able to get the special show prices and I really loved the day dedicated to our baby .

I am thinking of going. Like OP I think I am able to judge what I want to spend my money on. My DH and I are going for research purposes as there are not many shops that stock lots of different brands to compare. I am planning to do eBay and NCT for a lot of purchases!

I haven't been before but was thinking of going in the hope that we'd be able to 'test drive' lots of prams in one place. But intend to do my research beforehand and have a list of all the models that I'm interested in and know the internet prices of them, so if the price is better on-line I will order the one we want when we get home!

I'm not the sort to buy stuff I don't need, so I'm not worried about coming back with things that I had no intention of getting.

I really just fancy going & having a play with stuff. I don't have much to buy. Will be nice to play with prams & stuff & grab some freebies

Hello, just to let you know that last year I found out that Clarion Events who run the Baby Show also run the MASSIVE Arms Fairs at Excel. They are like a Bluewater for despots and torturers.

They're not meant to sell torture equipment, or illegal weapons like cluster bombs, but they do.

The only way to stop Clarion Events promoting this behaviour - which leads to the death of many innocent people, including babies - is to harm their reputation.

i went to the one at the excel centre this year (got free tickets) and i really enjoyed it actually :)

Eurrrgh, I went to the one in Birmingham a couple of years ago and it was hell. Wall to wall hormonal women and lots of people trying to take advantage of those hormones. We ended up spending £200 on reusable nappies that I ended up being too flustered and shell-shocked after the birth to get around to using.

I didn't see anything at a price that would have made it worth the journey/ticket price/hassle.

We did get a free pot of muller rice which was tasty though!

I'm going on Friday iv worked at the show for the past few years and always thought I'd go when I have a baby, now I'm pregnant I can go ...... Whilst secretly hoping other exhibitors remember me for big discounts

Oh and my advice - bring packed lunch food in there is super over priced!

i went to the one in manchester organised by the same people. After going to the national wedding fair i wasn't really looking forward to it, but it was a good afternoon out for me and DH as it was alot slower paced. It wasn't half as busy as i was expecting and we got some bargains whilst we were there. We'd seen some Tutti Bambini furniture on their website, they had a stall and we got it almost £600 cheaper so that was good. Also got a trial bucket of Tots Bots Nappies cheaper than o ntheir website. So not a complete waste of time. Obviously there are lot of companies there and you just wonder 'who buys that!'

Was dissapointed at the lack of freebies though!
