Just a few questions if you don't mind :)

I was told DD would be big and she was (8lb 4oz at 39 weeks). Natural birth but with failed ventouse and forceps. Ouch.

This time, I am 32 weeks pregnant, have been consistently measuring 2 weeks ahead until last night when I saw consultant and am now measuring 4 weeks ahead Shock. Yes, I realize how unreliable the measuring tape is BUT, he felt and said its a big baby and I get comments all the time, and the measurement has been consistent. Growth scan booked at 36 weeks. Have convinced myself my baby will be 10lbs by 40 weeks, if not more :(

So if you were also told you'd have a big baby/measured ahead, how big was your baby? And did you give birth naturally or by CS? Did you have any complications?

DS was a big baby. My 2nd child, he was off the chart for size the whole way along, particularly his head circumference (the biggest big to get out).
He arrived 9 days late, weighed in at 10lbs, a strapping lad. My entire labour was 2 hrs 27 mins, and the final stage was just 6 contractions, easy as shelling peas.
Here?s passing you my luck!
He is now 4 yo and wears the same size cycle helmet as DH (adult medium), so he still has that big head.

I don't know the facts/statistics regarding larger babies and the risk of stillbirth. Although I'm guessing statistics would include mothers with gestational diabetes who are at the risk of having a bigger baby and a stillbirth - but that is to do with the GD.

Ds3 placenta was huge. The MW was hauling it up from the bottom of the pool like she was hosting a sail Blush Grin

I was scanned at 40 wks as measured 47!!! DD was born by ELCS and weighed 10lbs13oz. Was offered the option to 'try' but was told it was very unlikely I'd be able to manage. I wanted to avoid EMCS at all costs, was the right decision for both of us I think..

Am now pg with number 2 and being more closely monitored but would quite happily go for an ELCS again if need be..

I measured big all the way through with DS and had growth scans due to bleeding where they predicted he would be 10-11lbs. ELCS wasn't even discussed and I was told that attempting a vaginaldelivery was the most favourable option. He arrived at exactly 40 weeks weighing 9lb 3oz, an unassisted delivery.

DD was measuring spot on for dates until 37 weeks when she suddenly leaped ahead by 2-3 weeks. At 40 weeks I was sent for a presentation scan because they suspected she was breech (and it turns out she was). They didn't do any measurements that day but my bump was measuring 43cm and the MW doing the scan said that every available space in my uterus was filled with baby, when she felt my bump she also said baby felt big. After consulting my fundal growth chart she said baby was on course to be 5kg+. I went back two days later for a more in depth scan where they did measurements of her leg/head/abdomen with a view to turning her head down. They estimated her to be 8lb 11oz based on these measurements. An hour later I had an emergency caesarean and she was 7lb 10oz.

Measurements in utero and fundal height are purely guess work really, I've never known them to be right, especially when it comes to bigger babies.

DD1 was 8lbs 12oz and I was told that DD2 was 'certainly going to be bigger'. She was born at 41 wks after a 2 hour labour weighing 7lbs 8oz Hmm

My sister was told 2 weeks before her due date that she would have a big baby by midwife, in midwives own words 'i've been doing this for 30 years and i guarentee you'll be having a big bouncing boy' she guessed about 9 pounds at least... Her little girl was born 2 days before due date at 5.13 and we had to run out to buy premature baby clothes for her!

Told biggish he was 9lb14 was told ds2 would be likely to be bigger he was 8lb 7.5 both 6 days over
dd was prem (and big for her gestation) but ds3 was even smaller at 7lb 14 even though I was told he would be big too

Gestational diabetes led meds to predict i'd have a massive baby, despite the fact i'm very slight and fit normally and only put on 1 stone. He was born at 38wks and weighed 7lb 6oz. Now I'm not even sure i had GD in the first place, i've heard my hosp limits are set way below what is usual and accounted for a massive rise in GD diagnoses (but thats a different story!)

whats with all this measuring...i have never been measured. baby has at scans but my bump never has. i was told at scan i was having a big baby and did 10. 5 svd no help needed. everything honky dory but they are keeping an eye on this one as they say they only get bigger. i am expecting an 11 pounder this time Grin

I had 2 ELCS because scans were showing enormous babies and whilst I'm not especially petite, I have quite a narrow pelvis. The consultant said to me "you will be having stitches. Where do you want them?" Sad

The reality was DD1 was 9lb and DD2 was 9lb 14oz. Big, but not impossible. My placentas however were a thing to behold! Both taken away for nosing at by students. DD2s placenta was 2.5lbs (I asked that time...)! I also had vast amounts of fluid both times so was truly huge by around 30 weeks. Couldn't drive either time from 6 months as bump wouldn't allow me to pull the seat in close enough to reach the pedals. Confused

I'm now almost 10 weeks with no.3 and I'll be honest, I'm worried how big I'll go now there's less 'resistance' (read: 'slack stomach').
