Ladies,

Some time has passed and I am opening the topic again in case any of you who had recently given birth at UCH want to share their experience!

Any pointers as to how it went - starting from being admitted to the hospital, to the labor process and the staff assistance, and the postnatal experience.

Thanks in advance and congrats!!!

I have had all 3 of my births at Uch and am now pregnant with %234 ( due in may)and am booked in there. I have very complicated pregnancies and they are really amazing and the new building is lovely.
It is a large and very busy teaching hospital and I have never met the same midwife twice and the appointments never ( and I mean never!) run on time always late. That said apart from breast feeding help with my first 6 years ago which was rubbish I have never has a problem with midwives or doctors .
Postnatal care is patchy but has improved with each one that might be my experience in mother hood, though last time I was in 2010 I did see a Chief midwife spend a good long time with a lady trying to help her breast feed.
It has always been very clean even in postnatal.
Never been to the birth centre so can't comment on that.

Don't know what went on there but random 234 is not amount of babies I've had. Is supposed to say DC4!

No personal experience but my SIL was booked to have hers there and just actually swapped to Whittington as she heard so many stories from other women about UCH being too busy, lack of attention and care during labour, and lack of beds.

Just wanted to share - gave birth on the 17th of Jan in the labor ward of UCH and this was a completely fantastic experience from start to end - really happy I did choose this hospital (had a choice between UCH, Chelsea and Westminister, Queen Charlotte and St Mary's). The team was great - professional and efficient - felt completely safe in their hands. The neonatal services were amazing - due to low blood pressure and loss of blood I've had to stay for 2 days in the neo natal ward - the team there was also very attentive and made the stay much easier (not a big fan of hospitals in general). Overall - 10/10 - if/when we have a second child UCH would be the hospital of choice - no doubt about this!

congrats vaci! I had a CS at UCH two years ago and couldn't fault it (apart from the food which was unspeakable). Felt very looked after. Glad you had a good experience. And welcome to mini vaci !
