That's it really. Am seriously craving the stuff atm, but not sure whether it's okay to eat and if so if I should limit intake.
TIA

swordfish and marlin and shark have the mercury link.

I eat loads of the stuff! did when I was pg with dd and ds as well - seems to be my standard craving!!

Whole plate of it covered in lemon...yum!!!!

In my last pregnancy I read somewhere, just before Xmas, that you shouldn't eat much smoked salmon but I can no longer find the reference. I think it was something to do with levels of nitrate?? anyway, am planning to eat it in moderation this time round.

Just copied this from the baby centre

Smoked salmon is rich in nutrients but do make sure it is fresh. In some countries, it's advised that pregnant women shouldn't eat cold meats or smoked fish. In the UK, we're not advised to avoid these products as the risk of listeria is very low. To be absolutely safe, stick to pre-packaged, date-stamped smoked salmon bought direct from your supermarket.

I was told to eat Tuna in moderation because of mecury. I think the advice was 2 tins a week or something like that.
It was a shame becuase in the early stages of pg, all I wanted was tuna and cucumber sandwiches.

the food standards agency is, imho, the best source of advice for pg women on what/not to eat.

The babycentre stuff which Newbethgirl copied is right about making sure it's fresh. But on the upside it's got EFAs in it which are REALLY good for the baby (the baby needs structural fatty acids to build brain & eye tissue). So I'm eating lots of it. And my Mum ate lots when she was pregnant with me - she reckons it's why I turned out so clever (remember, this is my mother speaking - opinions differ on how brainy I actually am )

This was my craving with both DD1 and DD2! Smoked salmon drizzled with fresh lemon, when I had to have it, I had to have it.

Why I couldn't have craved for something cheap like digestives or bread, I don't know

No adverse affects whatsoever to the DD's. In fact, I find their fins rather cute
