Am normally a 34DD but think am already a 36DD or even Eand am only 7 weeks!! I want something pretty, soft yet supportive, not underwired, that ideally costs under £20. Any recommendations I can buy online, gratefully receivedwould normally just go down to John Lewis but can't face the hordes of Xmas shoppers.

M&S maternity are fab 2 for £20 one white one balck and comfy

hunkermunker · 15/12/2005 19:23

I wore those too, GS, and found them comfy.

You are best to get measured, I'm afraid. Where are you? In south London there are several shops I know of that are just on ordinary residential streets but that do maternity bra fitting.

Arabica · 15/12/2005 20:23

Yes, I will get measured in my local shop, (N London) but don't like the styles they sell--all the maternity bras are really hideous. Those of you that wore the M&S bras, pardon my asking but do you have whopper knockers like me? Cos some bras are better for smaller boobs.

Was 34DD pre-pregnancy and 34G post, so yep, pretty whopping

Enideepmidwinter · 15/12/2005 20:25

everyone on here recommended the triumph doreen to me

i bought one and it is HIDEOUS and doesnt fit me

I think the only solution is to go and get measured...

Straightforward · 15/12/2005 20:26

Interesting to hear about M+S bras as I've had exactly the same problem and my boobs looked like overstuffed carrier bags last pg - do not want that happening again.
Bit more expensive, and completely passion-free, but I've found Triumph Doreen to be supportive and give me a reasonable shape so far.

Straightforward · 15/12/2005 20:27

Absolute must to get measured, particularly if you're well endowed, otherwise you'll be able to sweep the floor with them post pg (know this from experience...)

The Doreen just makes me PMSL, a very squashed and conical look, not to mention hideously ugly. I used to work on the order line for a catalogue company when I first left school and the only people to order the 'Doreen' were old women. Not a good ad, I fear !

Straightforward · 15/12/2005 20:34

I was completely mortified, it's true, but had tried on some much prettier ones which were great to look at but had crap support and made me look really lumpy and saggy under my clothes.
I get through it by telling myself it's a kind of sweater-girl pointy boob thing (ok ok who am I trying to kid...?)

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 15/12/2005 20:55

I tried mothercare but they were gross and the styling squashed me sideways. So another vote for the M&S twin pack from me (was 36D now 38G) Will be buying M&S nursing bras too

Arabica · 15/12/2005 21:32

Ah, the Doreen! That's what they sell in my local bra shop, hence my determination simply to get measured then bugger off elsewhere. With DS went from 34D to 36J, yes J for Ji-gantic. Mind you most of that was fat, as I put on 5st. NOT happening this time, oh no...(said she just eaten 100g bar of Green & Blacks)
