38+4, anyone else fed up/want a moan?

Just been to my midwife appointment. I'm 38+4 and baby is still high up, cervix firmly closed...she reckons he'll come out "at term" (which is 41 weeks here!!!)

Argh! I can cope with the idea of another week, but another 2.5 weeks!

Plus everyone always says they can come early, so be prepared etc. etc. My bags have been packed for 10 days now, but it all seems pointless.

I'm fed up of not sleeping well, of having new pains and aches everyday (severe backache today - no idea why) and just the general not knowing how long this pregnancy will go on for. Also the worrying: is he moving enough? Why are my nipples getting lighter instead of darker? (TMI!) Why aren't I gaining much weight? How much will labour hurt? Will I go into hospital too early/too late? Have I everything I need in my bag? ....

Anyone else fancy a moan?

Just wondering whether any lucky ladies here have had their babies yet? I am still waiting and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone...

dribbleface · 26/09/2011 20:01

Nope still here - 1 week to go.

tiddleypompom · 27/09/2011 09:00

Still here too asturimama - at 40+4. Suspicious tightenings have become more uncomfortable overnight and a pinkish toilet tissue this morning - but not getting too excited as this could just be the start of a long pre-labour... Sent DH to work so that I am not observed all day, and a friend with newborn coming over for tea and cake later.

I'll let you know!

dribbleface · 27/09/2011 09:51

ooh tiddle sounds promising! fingers crossed.

Asturimama · 27/09/2011 10:00

Exciting tiddley, I think there is a connection there as I could have written your exact post!!
Woke up at 7 with period-like pains which coincide with the tightenings and they have been coming steadily every 5 minutes, also progressively losing the plug so I am keeping my fingers crossed!
The pains are still quite mild, so not sure if this is a false alarm...

dribbleface · 27/09/2011 10:09

all go on here today. good luck to you both! also having pains but had lot's over last few weeks so doubt it's anything. keep us posted!

I'm 35+5, some back problems, but having constant treatment for them. Just been booked in for a GTT on Friday, so don't want to do it, don't want to starve for 12 hours, don't want to drink sweet stuff (all I want at the moment is fish, fruit and nuts so its not like i'm being unhealthy) don't want to sit still for 2 hours because of my back, I will be like a board after that. I don't work in an office and not used to sitting still while pregnant. AND if it comes back positive my natural labour with hypnotherapy techniques at home is out the window because they will want to deliver early and at the hospital. Feeling totally crap now.... but thanks for the opportunity to rantxx

wheelshavefallenoffthebus · 27/09/2011 19:30

Hi everyone
I'm 38+3 and have been in hospital for monitoring since Sunday when my bp started to go up. Was hoping to go home tomorrow until induction in a weeks time but drs want me to stay in. Can't get an earlier induction because delivery suite is too busy and my pre-eclampsia is mild (good news at least!) but I am missing ds1 hugely and have another week to go. Each day seems really long and it's hard to sleep in a 4 bed bay. I want my own bed! Moan over.. Smile

californiaburrito · 27/09/2011 20:07

Urgh.. Spent most of the weekend in a "baby's not coming" funk.

I had a midwife appointment on the Monday morning and although I miss my regular midwife very much (she just changed jobs last week) I was happy to find that the new midwife is much more pro-intervention than the average community midwife around here. My bum was barely in the seat before she offered me a sweep. I must have an air of desperation about me.....

Apparently, I'm already 2cm dilated but still no action- having another sweep tomorrow.

Bartimaeus I can't find your thread in chat but I'm assuming that it's good news!

Asturimama, dribbleface, and tiddley Have you had a lot of Braxton Hicks? I have and I think that they have become more labour-like- especially after my sweep. They are shorter, more frequent and more at the business end of things rather than across my bump. But still not the real thing I think.

Good luck ladies!

tiddleypompom · 28/09/2011 18:29

Yet another night of regular and v uncomfy tightenings so proper tired today - but still no sign of baby! Sympathy to all others still yet to meet their LOs - especially when admitted into hospital and not able to 'roam free'.

Dreading another long night with no progression so have walked and bounced all day in hope that things start to hot up. Poor DH is going to go mad if we have to wait much longer!

2 days left for a Sept baby - come on you mamas! :o

tiddleypompom · 28/09/2011 18:32

Oh sorry forgot to answer question - didn't really notice BH throughout pregnancy but last 2 nights have been proper thing in that they are painful and in back as well as across bump, like a wave. Just not regular or intensifying over time. Let tonight be the night!

BackwardsInHighHeels · 28/09/2011 19:27

Another whinger here. Due tomorrow. Had BH and periody pains for days now, getting my hopes up every time, but no go?

I just want to meet my baby now! Especially since I've been off for 11 weeks with epic SPD and joint pains (I'm hypermobile) so everything is done and everyone thought I'd go early.

Fingers crossed for everyone who's waiting. Hope we're all in labour soon!

Bartimaeus · 30/09/2011 12:00

Hi all
well, 31 hours after starting this thread I gave birth!
Yup, big surprise for everyone as I kept being told I would go to 41 weeks...and gave birth at 38+5!
Was in hospital for 4 days (standard here) and was so happy to get home last Wednesday.

Fingers crossed some more babies have made in out Grin

I'm with you - 37+4 today. Even the weather pi**es me off right now! Plodding around after my dd's 6 and 2 is miserable. I'm in a foul mood with anybody who leaves things on the floor for me to pick up, even strangers who don't move out of my way in the supermarket get a huffy look!

I've had strong period type pains (which obviously haven't come to anything), discharge similar to very big chunks of snot (very sorry that's cringy!) not sure if that's a show (no blood) and been loose (iykwim). I wish all these things meant something but I went a week over with both of my last pregnancies so can't bare to raise my hope unnecessarily.

Good luck to all the termers out there!!

wheelshavefallenoffthebus · 01/10/2011 07:14

Congratulations Bartimaeus Smile
I am 39 weeks today and will have been in hospital for a week as of tomorrow. Induction booked for Monday so not much longer to go.
I feel institutionalised! Have got used to meals turning on their own and not doing much. My sympathies to everyone heavily pregnant and struggling in this crazy heatwave especially with other children. Can't wait to have my baby and get home to DH and ds1 who have both been brilliant.
Good luck everyone Grin

dribbleface · 01/10/2011 07:21

congratulation's Bartimaues! Wheels hang on in there, not long to go. i have midwife coming out to do a sweep today, due Tuesday and induction for medical reasons booked for Thursday, so not long to go! have a family party to go to tonight, think I'll go, might encourage things along!

Asturimama · 01/10/2011 14:25

Congratulations Bartimaeus! I have also had my baby, born on Wednesday 38th, after labour kind of started on Tuesday morning (sent back home as wasn't dilated) and then properly on early Tuesday evening.
All the best to everyone who is still waiting, you will all get there in the end Wink

tiddleypompom · 03/10/2011 12:01

Another one here! Beautiful baby boy, born on 29th Sept at 40+6 after very quick first labour (less than 3 hours active). In love and on cloud 9 - best wishes to all those still waiting for their babies to arrive, but for those anxious not to 'go over' the babies are very much ready by then!

dribbleface · 03/10/2011 12:21

Congratulations Asturimama and tiddleypompom! very Envy. 39+6 today, had sweep sat, on and off pains, need this baby out by thursday!

dribbleface · 05/10/2011 07:30

well baby arrived Monday night after a very fast labour. didn't make it out of maternity Triage! all well, little boy 7lb 8oz!

lollystix · 05/10/2011 08:25

37+3. can I join? So bored now...

ALotToTakeIn · 05/10/2011 08:39

37+3 too here and off to see MW today. Definitely feels like bump is settling lower and lower, but need him/her to wait til after the weekend as DH is crazy busy with work until monday. At least it isn't so hot now but I do feel sorry for my dogs as I keep on yelling at them and all they are trying to do is look after me.
