Pregnancy

Honest opinions please ladies... am I eating too much?!

Have been suffering from terrible indigestion over the last few weeks and have been really hungry during the day. On the whole main meals are out the window and I have found it easier to graze throughout the day. However, someone who sits on my group of tables at work keeps commenting on how much I?m eating and that I?m going to end up with a fat baby... I?m now really paranoid! I had weight issues as a child and although wasn?t really fat, just a bit plump, I was bullied and I really don?t want the same for my little one. So here?s what I?m eating on an average day:

Breakfast - Bowl of plain Oats so Simple with honey
Lunch ? Fresh Soup or a salad
Dinner ? Small chicken breast (or similar) and veg
Snacks throughout the day ? apples (usually two per day), banana, snack size chocolate of some sort, low fat yogurt (sometimes two ? if I have one after dinner) and grapes. If I?m having a bad day I?ll have a packet of Monster Munch too, but that?s only a couple of times a week

Would love to hear honest feedback on whether I should be curbing my intake (I?m 23 weeks pregnant by the way)...

xx

You should not be worrying about having a "fat baby". My ds was small for dates due to poor blood flow to the placenta-he has issues due to this. I think you are actually eating no where near enough. Pregnancy is not the time to diet unless it is under doctors orders.

I think if you actually worked out the calories your were eating you may find that your intake is under the recommended daily requirements.

Your colleague is insane

Probably not enough, I'd agree. My baby was small for dates (5lb 10) as I was probably not eating enough and that has brought its own issues. Stay healthy but enjoy your food.

I eat at least double that, honestly. I'm 32 weeks and I have put on a bit over a stone and a half.

As long as your diet is varied, you'll be OK.

Even if your baby was a good big one, this would have little correlation to being chubby later btw. It would just make them pretty healthy!

Your colleague basically sounds as though she has bizarre issues - let her have them. I'd find it creepy having someone monitor what I ate - even the beloved OH would NEVER do that, and he lives with me and has a half share investment in the baby to be ;)

Doesn't sound excessive to me at all, especially as you're pregnant! I would think that if you're hungry, then you should eat, give your body what it needs. As others have said, pregnancy is not the time to be dieting or trying to curb or restrict your calorie intake, particularly as it sounds like you already have a normal, healthy diet.

Your colleague is very rude, and almost certainly ignorant and wrong as well. I would ignore 'helpful' comments like that from random people - if you're concerned about diet/weight issues then talk to your midwife or doctor.

Oh god. Your work needs to shut up and mind its own business. If only you knew what I ate in a day Blush.

if your hungry eat, tell your "friend" to fuck off.
your food looks great and healthy and babies are suppose to be fat.
