Body changes after pregnancy

So I have the standard stretch marks, saggy belly, mahoosive knockers, all of which I expected and am happy with because I have a gorgeous dd. But had an hour to myself this morning and really looked at myself in the mirror (first time in 6 months!) and I think my hair has changed colour. :-/
The roots are almost black and I've always been mousy blondish! Anyone else have unexpected changes after pregnancy???? Am I the only one with weird hair???? Please tell me I'm not the only one........

Maybe we should do some research - a MN questionnaire about chin hair? Gilette could sponsor us?

Gawd, I have ALL of the above.

  • Feet a good size larger, in length and width.
  • Chin hair and moustache - ugh, ugh, ugh!
  • Broader hips.
  • Broader ribcage.
  • Bras - gone down a cup size, but increased inches.
  • Hair on head is a lot thinner, darker and not in as good condition.
  • More armpit hair - needs dealing with every other day - ugh again!
  • Definitely more prone to BO too. I NEVER, ever smelled - even after lots of exercise, but now I just do and really have to keep on top of it.
  • Perhaps TMI, but fanjo isn't as tight as it was (even after first birth) and requires more maintenance in terms of washing and pruning! Yep, TMI!

Quite a catch, eh? Hmm

Oh, no stretch marks though. Phew!

raspberryhead · 16/09/2011 23:47

so how do you get rid of the chin hairs?

I pluck but I think this may be a very bad move. Will probably end up with a carpet attached to face.

Raspberry - I wouldn't pluck for fear of that (but I'm no beautician). Electrolysis works though if you can be arsed

PizzaEmpress · 16/09/2011 23:51

I pluck too, with a microscope mirror and some decent tweezers...every blinkin' day! Considering electrolysis as they on the front of ny chin, not just on the jaw and the 'tache is getting more conspicuous, I think.

Or, I could just change my name to Bernard and have done. Hmmm, perhaps one for the Baby Names topic. Grin

BuckBuckMcFate · 16/09/2011 23:56

I developed thicker hair while pregnant but also a receding widows peak style hairline.

10 months later the receding bits are growing back and I have two patches of about an inch and a half long hair! It really isn't a good look.

Feet stayed the same size though Grin

raspberryhead · 16/09/2011 23:56

Grin pizza

I'd heard electrolysis doesn't work v well. Very happy to hear otherwise tho.....
And tried bleaching but then caught a sideways look in the mirror in direct sunlight and started screaming.
Do you think the end result of bearing progeny is that you eventually transform into a wolef?

Any chin hair BuckBuck? Still trying to work on that hypothesis.....

OP posts:
lollystix · 17/09/2011 00:00

Oh buckbuck - you just reminded me I'm going to have to go through that stupid regrowth phase around my hairline where it sticks out a 90 degree angle for about 2 months before it becomes a proper sort of fringeSad

PizzaEmpress · 17/09/2011 00:02

I have tried electrolysis and it did nothing but leave little red dots everywhere. I did about five or six sessions and gave up. I was thinking of giving it another go though, and carry on for longer. Can be pricey though.

Yeah, bleaching's never worked for me. I notice the hairs more. I had a neighbour who used to do it and looked like a Swiss man every couple of weeks after she'd first done it. I never noticed any hair until she bleached it.

Yes, I think you're right. We're all wolef bound.

Oh, just thought of another - much heavier, more irregular periods since babies. Roll on the menopause!

raspberryhead · 17/09/2011 00:04

Grin "wolef-bound"
Have finished peering at my chin in the magnifying mirror and am off to bed. Night all!

Are you sure you're not all just getting old? It sounds very familiar - and I haven't got any children!

PelvicFloorsOfSteel · 17/09/2011 00:16

My feet returned to the same size after DS1 and never grew at all during pregnancy with DS2.
I have a few more chin hairs but always had one big black thing that regrew in the same place so it's just made it a bit less lonely, chinny has friends at last!
Stomach hair, ughh.
Ribcage and hips bigger.
Horrible fatty bit above hips.
Stretch marks.
I thought I was more prone to BO but think I might have just developed a more sensitive nose (keeps fingers crossed) - apparently this is quite common [wishful thinking emoticon].
Fanjo is still as it ever was so I think I've got off quite lightly really. Smile

Pastabee · 17/09/2011 06:12

All I can say is if Raspberry's hypothesis is correct at least it just happens. Imagine if you got a form from midwife and had to tick for trotters or beard? How would you choose?!

BuckBuckMcFate · 17/09/2011 06:27

No chin hair for me, I must get the extra hair hormone higher up on my forehead rather than my chin Grin

I would choose chin hair over hoof any day. I'm a 7/8 now already and would be gutted if I grew out of all shoes. I would just nair my chin.

No change to ribcage size after 4dc either. I do have a bit of extra padding but have gone back down to 10/12 after the 2nd and 3rd, it is a work in progress at the moment 10 months after no 4.

I didn't truly appreciate going back to 8/10 after dc1 with no effort whatsoever and it is sooo much harder the older I get.

Anyone else got any of those lovely brown pigment marks on their face? My mum still has one 30 years after having my brother. And mine is rather attractively over my top lip. It's not too bad during summer when it blends in with a bit of a tan but will look like 5 clock shadow in the middle of winter mmm

raspberryhead · 17/09/2011 07:48

Maybe Amanda's right. Maybe it's not the pregnancy as such that creates the changes, it just accelerates time so you age 5/10/15 years. Then some lucky people time-regress.....
Pregnancy time-travel!

Beamur thanks for cheering me up :)

My boobs hardly grew which is one of my pregnancy disappointments so hopefully the feet will stay the same - I tried on my heels in a panic yesterday and they fit :)

And no I don't want the chin hair either :P but I guess that can be lasered in worse case scenario Grin

Sandra2011 · 17/09/2011 10:04

My feet got wider.

Even when I got to the same weight as before pregnancy my body shape was different.
