I would ideally love my mum to be there, she was there for my sisters as she didn't have anyone else, and I am alot closer to my mum than my sister. I know in times of stress as well that I always revert back to childhood, the only problem being my OH as I don't think he'll like it :(

My mum was there when I had both of my children. So was my husband, and one of my sisters for part of the time.

I was there with my sister for the birth of my niece and my nephew, along with my mum and my sister's husband.

Another sister of mine is due to give birth in November and has asked me and my mum to be there along with her fiancé.

My mum and partner were both with me through mine and I don't know what I would have done without her! My partner was great but there are somethings you just need your mum for. I ended up having an emergency c-section and after a very long and distressing labour I had to chose between them, who would come to theatre with me... I chose my mum! At which point she stepped back and said she thought my partner should go instead. That is why she was there, to help me make the right choices aswell as to support me! My mum wasn't overbearing or anything and my partner didn't feel left out, i think he appreciated the support she gave him too.
If your daughter has asked you to be there, ignore everyone else. It will be a very special moment and if she wants to share it with you then just enjoy it.

My mum waited in the waiting room when I was in labour. I loved this as I loved the reassurance that she was there if I needed her and liked how she could straight away see my son :)
