Boo .

Hunker, send me some "turn, peaheadbaby, turn" vibes please...

Current plan is 1. scan at 37wks if still breech to look at cord and placenta, 2. ECV if I feel like it, 3. moxibustion at 38/39 if I don't/ECV doesn't work, 4. have a breech birth at home if the bugger is still the wrong way up. CSection not an option I'm considering unless there is a good medical reason for it.

Luckily I have the world's finest Ind Midwife who is bird happy to do home breech births (think she is up to 3 this year already) but frankly I'd rather have the head down version...

Mears/pupuce/anyone else - what do you think? But I know there is masses of time for it to turn etc etc etc... (after all it has turned in the last fortnight, silly thing)

While I have every sympathy for hunker and pph and really hope those babies turn I am cracking up at the thought of waving a torch around your nether regions

"Heeeeloooooooo????? Anyone in thereeeeeee?"

Try waving some chocolate about too.

hi hunker, sorry to hear that it isn't growing "right " - what does that mean?
mine flipped head down the day after that post so didn't really have time to get the torch out lol
think mine is fine, I'm in a grump with it at the moment because I am so bored of being pregnant so just trying to pretend that it isn't there at all at the moment. unsuccessfully I might add.

I have gestational diabetes so they're monitoring with growth scans - the head circ's growing just fine, as is the femur, but the abdominal measurement's not following a steady upward curve (unlike mine - lol!). But I figure that this might happen with lots of babies - they're just not all scanned so people never know. I tend to be laid-back about things until I'm told to worry (I just like all the facts so I know if the questions I'm asked mean they're worrying iyswim ).

Really glad to hear the baby's done a somersault (well, half a somersault, I guess!) - no need for torch-waving or frozen veg then?

Moo...any chocolate-waving ought not be done near me as I'll take your arm off - this diabetes malarkey's Not Fun!

ds was a footling breech until about 38 weeks and then he turned - and it hurt like hell! I only did the bum in the air thing (with dd crawling underneath and crashing into the bump - owww!).

My point is the hospital staff were not bothered about the position at all. Might have been a diffeent story at 39/40 weeks though.

FWIW, my SILs sister gave birth to identical twins who were breech (5 years ago)

Good luck!

oh god how annoying hunker. about the diabetes I mean. well if its head and legs are growing nicely what is the concern about the abdomen I wonder? Strange. Is it very big? Are you going to be made to have it early?

Aw, hunker - sorry - pregnancy's grotty enough without added complications. Do you do hugs? Do you want one?

(((((........HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGG!.....))))))

hunkermunker · 30/12/2005 21:15

Not sure about having the baby early - had a fairly pointless scan today - the receptionist booked it too early for hospital protocol to allow them to measure the growth (ie she didn't leave the requested fortnight), but the blood flow through the cord was fine.

I have a clinic appointment with a possible fitted-in scan on 3rd, so will know more then. Don't fancy being induced really, but DS was 10 days late, so I'm not holding out too much hope of this one coming early naturally!

Have no idea why the abdomen's not growing as well as the head and femur - but the baby's on the small side apparently - unlike DS who was 8lb 10oz. I feel much smaller than I did with DS - I'll be surprised if this one's much over 7lb but until they're on the scales there's no way to tell, obv!

Moo, thanks for the hug I'm OK - had some wobbles with the GD to begin with but then discovered that I could eat potatoes without it affecting my blood sugar and that made me happy (I know, little things ).

hunker, talk to it. Tell it how keen you are to see it and how lovely it would be if it arrived 2 weeks early etc etc. Did this with DS2 (had glucose intolerance and DS1 had been a 10lber) and he arrived 2 weeks early as I requested without resorting to the consultant's dire warnings of induction and c-section. Strange but true! I think it's effectively hynotherapy at least it was a hypnotherapist who told me to do it.

hunkermunker · 30/12/2005 21:52

Will do just that, Soupy - thanks for the tip!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 31/12/2005 08:44

It's very bizarre, I admit but DS2 did arrive when I wanted him to and 2lbs lighter than DS1 The only thing you have to lose is that everyone will think you're bonkers.
