head low but cervix is posterior - anyone?

Just been to see MW at 40+4 for a sweep and he said he couldn't do one as my cervix is posterior but when he was doing the internal he said he could feel that the babys head was really low (but also wouldn't confirm whether it was engaged).

He told me that he didn't think labour was imminent but also that things can change within a day (he's very non-commital as you can tell!)

So my question is, did any of you have this presentation (low head with posterior cervix) and how long after your midwife examined you did you go into labour (I know the internal won't set labour going but that would be the last reference you had that the baby / cervix was in that position)

9 days to induction....

I have a very posterior cervix..
On my 3rd dc (same presentation as you) they did endless sweeps, propess, prostin, ARM and he was still dragged out by CS.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me at my sweep yesterday. MW said cerxix was posterior, quite short and 'didnt seem ready yet'

I'm hoping someone comes along with some positive stories - have got my heart set on a home birth and unless baby comes by Thursday next week they are going to induce me which I really didnt want...

Not sure if this will help ct but I went to see a different midwife today and told her to cause whatever pain was necessary to reach my cervix and she did-and managed a sweep! Either the midwife didn't try very hard yesterday or it changed during the last 24 hours but it's made me feel much better about things and might be worth you asking for another more aggressive attempt??

Thanks for that Annie. I've just requested a second sweep, midwife coming on Sunday morning...so I'll try to be a bit more insistant this time and remember what you said if she says she can't reach it again. Fingers crossed things get moving soon for us both!

My midwife actually told me to lift my backside off the bed/table by putting my hands underneath as being slightly raised helped her to reach because it was a better angle. Might be worth taking some paracetamol before hand, she was really rough with me (as I asked) and it didn't hurt a bit . Good luck! X

I had a sweep at 40+1, had posterior cervix but midwife still managed it, it was uncomfortable and she was rather vigorous but it worked, I had a show the same evening and dd was born the following night (12 days old now).
