Hi everyone!

I am currently looking to buy a steriliser for our first baby, due in November, but am getting stuck as there seems to be so many out there, all with their own pro's and cons!! It is all getting a bit confusing.
I have been looking at getting an electric steam steriliser as these seem to come highly recommended on all the websites I have searched through. But then there is which make to go for?

What is everyone else going for?
My other half seems to think that the microwave sterilisers are a waste of money as they use more energy and you can sterilise less in them!!?
Any advice would be gratefully received :)

the avent steriliser is a bit better because you can open in one handed while holding a baby without suffering third degree burns.

I had two. Used electric one the most. Avert Isis iq.

This time though I think I may use the cold water one as much less hassle and space!

Another vote for cold water sterilising here. Started off with it as my mum had to go shopping for me when I switched to bottles and it was what she had used for us. I expected to buy a steriliser but it is so easy, just change the solution once a day and keep adding stuff to it as you wash.

Though in the early sleep deprived days you will forget whether you changed it and end up doing it three times!

Another vote for cold water sterilising here. I also had an avent microwave steriliser and started off using that (good for saving space etc), but I got caught out twice when I went to 2 friend's houses and neither had a microwave. I was a bit Shock, I naively thought everyone had a microwave. Anyway cold water method is much easier for going to other peoples houses/abroad/camping etc, and I think I'll use it all the time this time round.

I've got the tommee tippee electric steriliser and it's fantastic! Takes about 3 mins and does all your bottles and teats at once. Only downside is space on the worktop but it's not very deep so as long as it's pushed to the back of the worktop it's not bad. I got a set from babies r us www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Feeding/Steriliser-and-Warmers/Tommee-Tippee-Closer-to-Nature-Essentials-Set(0070825) but it was on half price, it's the sort of thing that gets reduced quite often though.
