I think I've seen posts about this before but can't find any now so apols if going over old ground!

When baby is born I'm going to be without a car during the day when DH is working so anticipating doing a lot of walking. Thought it might be good to have a sling/carrier so I haven't got to take the pram out all the time.

Don't have a clue what to buy for a newborn though - any recommendations?

Also, don't really want to spend a huge amount. Someone mentioned the Close baby carrier to me but they seem to be about £60-70 new and I didn't really want to spend that much.

i really loved both my moby and babyhawk slings, the moby especially as baby was well snuggled up against me.

i've heard that slings like babybjorn are very bad for babies hips.

look up to see if there is a 'sling meet' near you. One near me met once a month, but they had loads to try on and experienced people to chat to and help work out what you need from a sling/carrier

personally I went with a kari-me sling, a type of wrap sling.

Google 'Victoria sling lady' - she does basic wrap slings which are great for newborns, and only cost between £11.50 and £20 each.

Where are you based? Google 'sling library' - they're all over the country and let you hire slings out. My local one costs £10 for 3 weeks so it gives you a try before you buy option but also means you can keep swapping for different sizes / needs.
