Not pregnant but will hopefully be next year when we are planning to go to lapland.

I am not at all worried about travelling as i did in my first pregnancy and will hopefully be low risk anyway but as the travel agents wont take bookings for under 2's will baby be ok in the tummy because it gets down to -20/-25

I know that there must be icelantic people who get pregnant but they would be used to the cold

Thanks.

Twiggy - stop it

JJ - I think most Laplanders do not wear animal skins anymore - just thermals and a goretex jacket

Twiglett · 06/12/2005 22:08

you're right

I'm sorry

It just seems to be getting my goat for some reason .. and that is totally unfair and more about me than jellyjelly .. so apologies proferred

HappyMumof2TurtleDoves · 06/12/2005 22:09

Twiglett, at least you say how you feel!

I just can't stop rofl

NotQuiteCockney · 06/12/2005 22:09

There's only one Animal, and I don't think he'd make that good a jacket. Maybe all the Muppets put together would be better?

Still not as warm as Goretex etc, though.

jellyjelly · 06/12/2005 22:09

Why dont you just go from this thread as you are being really rude from the start of this thread. I have done nothing to derserve the rudeness, you know nothing about me, my children or my life.

And for what it is worth you know nothing about ds age either. Get your facts right.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 06/12/2005 22:14

well you obviously didn't see my say sorry then ...

and your DS will be 3 and a half .. sorry for missing the half out ..

jellyjelly · 06/12/2005 22:16

He will be four, the tour operators will not allow under twos, that is what i was refering to, because of the extreme weather, after the day i have had i didnt need an attack.

Wait. You thought Lapland was in Iceland? But you're ignoring Twiglett's apology because she got her facts wrong?

BudaBabeInAManger · 06/12/2005 22:23

Jellyjelly - I live in Hungary and have lived in Bulgaria where it has been -12 in the day. Just do layers - get some thermal undies for all of you. Good thermal socks esp. And proper footwear. If your feet are cold forget it! Then layer up with proper waterproof/Goretex outerwear. Hats, scarves and gloves a definite.

Your tour operator wil be able to give advice on what to take. These trips are aimed at children so they will take that into consideration I'm sure.

People take 2 yr olds skiing after all!

jellyjelly · 06/12/2005 22:24

Who started picking on who? Who said i havent accepting twigletts apology.? I also wasnt the one who was nasty, was I?. I came on looking for advice and i get the nasty posts back.

I was talking about the ladies who get pregnant in that part of the world.

I only started planning this trip a few days ago. I will think twice asking for advice though.

On a lighter note, TK Maxx do cut price ski jackets for kids.....

HappyMumof2TurtleDoves · 06/12/2005 22:28

good diversion tactic colditz

jellyjelly · 06/12/2005 22:28

I feel as though i have been kicked down for asking questions which i think is really unfair.

Look, JJ, people were trying to be helpful. You were more than a bit snippy, yourself, from the beginning of the thread. (e.g. when I suggested that Iceland isn't very cold)

Maybe serious questions on Mumsnet isn't the thing to do when you've had a really rubbish day?

jellyjelly · 06/12/2005 22:34

Well, cheers for all the responses.

Twiglett · 07/12/2005 08:02

sorry again .. like I said it was more to do with what I perceived you were saying

jersey · 07/12/2005 08:25

Hi jellyjelly we went when I was 3 months as had booked it before I was pregnant. Apart from not being able to do everything I wanted to whilst out there I was fine and the baby is now a very energetic 16month old! Just keep well wrapped up.

Any questions let me know and I will try to answer them.

jellyjelly · 07/12/2005 09:02

Apology accepted and thankyou, i am certainly not at all stupid (apart form putting Iceland down instead of Lapland/iceland/sweden etc) and i/we wouldnt just take him unless i/we thought he would enjoy it and i believe he will and i will dress him warmly.

NotQuiteCockney · 07/12/2005 12:28

Jellyjelly, I'm sure you'll all have a great time. I do keep meaning to take DS1 to somewhere snowy, I feel he's being deprived, by not experiencing that. (I grew up with snow.)

(A small, trivial sidenote. Iceland is nowhere near Lapland. Iceland is an island country north-west of us, Lapland is a region, north-east of us. They're culturally a bit similar, but geographically etc very different. And Iceland doesn't have reindeer, the Sami, etc. It does have some volcanoes.)
