Hi everyone

Just a shameless request for everyone to tell me what I want to hear - that it's easier once the baby's here than being in late pregnancy with a toddler!

Am 31 weeks and so tired !

Hi Bump, I am 31 weeks too with a 22 month old! Everyone keeps telling me the same! Hard to believe though !

Ambernj1 · 19/08/2011 21:40

Depends on the babies and age gap I'm afraid. DS is 19 months, DD is 6 weeks. She is colicky, when she cries, he cries. I frequently find myself carrying one in each arm! I am bloody knackered, and my spare time has gone from minimal to bloody none!

That said they are beautiful and I wouldn't change things for the world (ok maybe the colic...)

good luck with the remainder of your pregnancies ladies and with wrangling two!

Ambernj1 · 19/08/2011 21:43

Ah, sorry, missed the shameless request bit, let me re-write:

Yeah, piece of piss, innit?

ninja · 19/08/2011 21:44

I'm really sorry - you're post just made me imagine actually giving birth to a toddler and I was wincing

Sorry, no help at all .... (it is a Friday night)

I feel a bit stupid now, I had images of you giving birth to a 2 year old when I first read the thread Blush made me smile tho!

...and the toddler jumps out from down there and starts having a tantrum because he doesnt like the hospital food Grin
Urg, imagine that!
A few months makes so much difference at this age though and I guess it all depends on the temperament of both.
DD is quite happy feeding dolly, taking her for walks and cleaning her teeth, I just hope that continues afterwards.
I asked her yesterday if she wanted a brother or sister and she said 'es eeese' (yes please!)

Ivortheengine8 · 20/08/2011 19:17

Mind you that massive baby born in Indionesia or somewhere a while ago was probably the same size as dd!

dribbleface · 20/08/2011 22:32

oh i hope it's easier. 34 weeks and have DS 3 Years. I'm so uncomfortable and grumpy.D can't understand why I'm grumpy, whose shall i start!

del1 · 21/08/2011 16:04

I am 38 weeks pregnant with a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old.

I am bloody struggling, and going have gone insane!! I have just stopped work, to have a 2 week rest before my due date.
But to be honest, I think it would have been a lot easier to stay at work!!Shock

I do agree, when I was this late stage with DD, my DS was 19 months old.
It was also hard work with just one more to chase around.
I found it far easier after DD was born, to chase after him without the aches/pains/heaviness of being about to pop. ( you actually forget how much a new born sleeps in the day)

I am hoping for light at the end of the tunnel, as the week im due, my DS will start doing a few sessions at pre school.
And even though I will have a crying baby, I know I will be able to bend over, run, pick all 3 up - without feeling ive ran a marathon!! Grin

Ivortheengine8 · 21/08/2011 19:38

Oh Del, you poor thing, must be a nightmare!

del1 · 21/08/2011 20:35

I thought I was going to have to have a c section, cause this munkey was breech until last week.
I had sort of got my head around having a rest, away in hospital for a few nights! Shock
My 1 year old DD is petite and fairly easy to handle, she sits and plays quite happily.
But 2 1/2 yr old DS is a typical lad - charges around everywhere, tantrums, wants to hang off me etc.
he is the handfull.
Oh well, not long to go, and this heavy lump will be out Smile

thehairybabysmum · 21/08/2011 21:07

Yes it is, I slept better too, despite the night feeds as at least you actually SLEEP the in-between bits unlike when pregnant!

I have a 22 month gap between mine and I will give you some more good news, mine are now 3 (v nearly 4) and 5 and it is fab now, almost easy even (whispers). They play together, really really love each other (some arguing of course, but not much) and are both into the same stuff. I have friends with much bigger gaps and you basically have a child and a baby so different wants/needs when out & about.

Don't get me wrong it can be hard at times with two v young ones but it comes good quite quickly!!

andypandypuddle · 22/08/2011 00:08

I am going in for an induction tomorrow with DC5 (!).. I have a 7yo, 5yo, 3yo, 19month old. This pregnancy has very nearly killed me physically.. and YES- I can say a resounding YES - it is easier after the birth generally (and this is from vast experience!) - but it does bring with it new 'juggling' act issues, such as bedtimes and bath times and meal times with a new baby too. However - I would choose a newborn over late pregnancy any day.......

aStarInStrangeways · 22/08/2011 08:32

ooh, good luck andypandypuddle :)

del1 · 22/08/2011 13:01

andypandypuddle
you need a medal, I couldn't do it. I'm on my last legs, with no energy or any new ideas how to keep them entertain left!!
good luck with induction!!!

KathleenMay · 22/08/2011 16:01

Definitely easier once baby arives. DS1 was 15 months when DS2 arrived, and the relief of having him out was far more than the hassle of coping with two. Now DS1 is 22 months and DS1 is 9 months (dont do the math in case I'm a month out) and they are an absolute doddle in comparison even to when DS1 was born, even though that was a better time than being pregnant! So its all getting greener dont worry. When I say a doddle, I use the term loosely, I'm talking about a toddler and baby after all, but theya re great fun, and whats more, they are already great company for each other, which also takes the pressure off you for a bit. I love having them close, they are great together and its brilliant to watch. But being pregnant with a young toddler was hectic, tiring, sore.
To top it off I'm now expecting DC3, I'm 12+5. And I'm delighted!

Bumpsadaisie · 22/08/2011 16:50

Kathleen,

I am too pregnant to do the maths properly too but this means you are going to have newborn, 18 month old and 3 year old doesn't it ... have a medal, that woman! Congrats on your pregnancy.

AndyPandy

Two medals and an honorary degree for you - 5 DCs under 7 ? Grin Hope the induction is going well.

I am just hoping to survive toddler and newborn with my sanity intact ...
